Hey all

Just wondering if anyone else was experiencing a P0430 code using winter gas. The code is inefficient catalyst bank 2 and this is the second year that this code appears while using winter gas. It goes away around spring and just came back after my last fillup. I only ever use 94 octane but if I can't find it 91. Come to think of it my second last fillup was way up north and they only had 91 at a petro canada so I threw in 15 litres to get me to civilization and then filled up with 94. It was immediately after filling up with 94 that this code appeared. I'll also check my gas cap just in case. I also changed to my winter wheels but that can't be the reason. One more thing. During the last fillup I had the nozzle out quite a bit and when it first stopped I pulled the lever one more time. I think it came right up to the fill port.

I have not experienced the code but it could be due to a winter ethanol blend (higher octane but burns "faster". If you reset the ECU (reset the fuel maps) more than likely the code will go away and stay away.

If an ECU reset doesn't keep the code off, your O2 sensor(s) might be on the verge of needing replacement.

I guess it may need to be replaced but I've also heard that different chemicals in the fuel which do not burn off could coat the sensor and make it erratic. I'll perform an ECU reset and see what happens.

Thanks
