So today it hit -3,4 C in Toronto. Not very cold and I don't know if this was the root of the problem but here goes.

I got into my car and felt around for the clutch with my left foot. I couldnt find it.I had to bend my head over to actually look for it. I found it FULLY depressed into the floor. The car was not in-gear, it was in neutral. I started to pump the clutch, tried to push it in and out with no avail. So i tried to pry it out with my hands for a bit and it wouldnt budge. Also, when the clutch was fully depressed, i could not engage the car in gear, signifying that the clutch was not fully depressed as i could not engage the car into a gear. Anyways, I went into my house to warm up, came back out to give it a second shot.

Pumped it a few times with my foot, then put my foot underneath the pedal and wedged it out. After that, the clutch was a bit iffy, but then after engaging the car in gear the clutch has been fine since.

What should I do about this? Im scared that when im driving it may go crazy on me again and not allow me to swtich gears = accident. If i take it into the dealership, i doubt they will replicate it.. So thats aw aste of time.

Anyways, ive heard about people with this problem so If you guys have feedback please help!~

That happened to me but it wasn't cold out and my car didn't fix itself. What happened to me was my clutch and brakes had air in it and it had to be bled out. After that it worked fine. I don't know what happened to your car though.

Mine did that last year a couple of times when it hit -30 C and colder. Especially when the car sat outside all day while I was as work. I ask the dealership and was told that because of the viscosity of the trans fluid, it will do that in really cold temps. (-3 is not what I call cold - been that for a couple of weeks now). Anyways, they said the I should just let the fluids cycle and warm up to operating temps, and it would be fine.

Yeah its been in the low to mid 20's for a week or so here and I did notice the clutch was a little istiff in the morning but ater a few min it was normal, maybe there a better manual gear oil for the winter?

I just don't like messing with Transmission Oil, if it still looks decent and metal shavings aren't noticeable, I say leave it be and I don;t think oil will do anything for the clutch anyway.
