I got a new-to-me '05 Murano SL last spring, and quite like it so far. Today, we had our first New England snowstorm of the season.

Usually, when I'm clearing snow off my car, I lift the windshield wipers into their "up" position-- sticking straight up in the air so that they do not touch the windshield. That way, I can clear the windshield, and the cowl of ice and snow, and clear the ice of the wiper blades, before lowering them back.

The wipers on the Murano can't be lifted in this manner because they are blocked by the hood. The question: Is this by design, or are they mis-positioned?

Thx.

That's the way the wipers are by design. You'll get used to it.

(and, oh yeah, sorry about the snow. We get spoiled here on the South Shore with so little of that white stuff. Once in a while a storm comes in from the ocean and we get buried, but that's rare. Usually you guys get it all before the bad weather reaches us)

Well, thanks. That is a pain in the _____. A sacrafice made for fine lines no doubt, butb sheesh.

You catch the nor'easters. If TV reporters are doing live reports from that seawall in Scituate, then we get none, and you get buried.

Anyway, I was quite pleased with the handling in 7" deep, slippery snow. Think I'll skip the dedicated snows, which is nice, because they cost a grand.

Forget the dedicated snows. With AWD you won't need them. My wife has commuted with our Mo from Duxbury to Scituate the past 5 winters with nary a problem (all 5 years on the original GY's). We now have Cooper CS-4's on, and I'm anxious to see if they are as good in the snow as the GY's were.

But, then again, we DO get far less snow overall than you. True, every few years we get a Noreaster or two that you don't see, but they are extremely rare. And, being 20 miles south of Scituate, we get less snow than they get there as well (that's why we pay more to live here!).

When we bought our used 06 I wondered why the paint was chipped on the hood just below the wiper. Didn't take long to find out!
