HELP!!!

My windshield wiper will not turn off after I turn it on. It has a mind of it's own. I thought it was the switch, replaced that now it looks good but the friggin thing still is possessed. For instance if I turn it to the first click which is controlled by the adjuster at the tip the wiper moves at the speed of the third click which is the low setting. Turn the switch to off and it still keeps ticking. If i turn the car off while the wiper is going on the off position, it will reset itself and stop. Please help.

Wiper issue - 92 240sx Fastback

Also has anyone seen or know if a stock 180sx comes with floor illumination in the car.

Thanks

My car has the same problem with the wipers.

I think it is something wrong with the control unit, located behind the panel next to the driver's left foot. I took it apart, but couldn't figure out the circuitry and did not try to fix it.

I'm also thinking it's the amplifier module which is located in the left foot kick panel. I'm going to try to test it today. heres the link with the test.http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....12381

Theres a wrecking yard close by which im going to see if I can take the one fromt here. If there are two I'll grab one for you and see if that works. Hopefully it will be cheap cheap. ill let you know. Also there is a s14 there adn im wondering if the amplifier is the same.

you can get an idea what it would cost from here. wrecking yards are a bit expensive. i'd only go there if i could not find elsewhere.

I had a similar problem with my wipers, and heres how it was fixxed : My brother in law was trying to fix my CD player and blew like, 3 fuses. One of them must have been to the wipers, and that littlke surge of power must have fixed them cuz I havent had one single problem since!

The problem hasn't been as bad on my car lately, either. In fact, I don't remember it happening at all the past few weeks. :xfingers

If you look in the owner manual you will find a listing for the type of bulbs to use in the the floor well lights. I asked the question about the light before I ever looked in there. There is a spot on all the 240sx s13's under the steering wheel panel and the CPU cover you will find a precut hole. This is were the lights go. Im on a hunt to find them and will post my answer. Chances are they came in canada.

I've found the problem with my wipers... I have a faulty wiper amplifier.

The wiper amplifier is a little green box adjacent to the clutch reservoir. Prying it open reveals just an ordinary relay, which is sticking sometimes.

Secret Agent if this works I bow to you. You are the man. Ive been on the hunt everywhere for another TCU unit. that didn't work. I'll try to replace that. Do you use another relay or replace the whole green box?

Okay Secret Agent you are officially "The Man," I went to the wrecking yard and pulled three relays plugged one in and wholllaaa. So great especially with the PIAA wiper blades. Thank You again. Hope fully this fixes everbody's problem.

I also got the floor well lights in and it gives the car a more luxarf feel and JDM I guess. I have a set coming in if anybody is interested 30 shipped or 27 bucks pick up. Just trying to get what I pad for them. Snap right in to the stock holes. Also I have the wiring diagram you need to easily find the wire to tap into.

The Nissan dealership wants $42.78 CDN for a new wiper amplifier. That is about $40 more than it should cost, but about what I expected it would cost.

I haven't decided what to do yet, but I'm leaning towards replacing it with a generic automotive relay.

Do you want me to pick one from the wrecking yard and ship to you I got mine for 10.00 bucks. And shipping will cost probaly another 2.00 bucks. I thought about the same thing I cracked my old one open this weekend but it looks like drama trying to wire in a an automotive relay.let me know.

I ended up getting a wiper amplifier from a wrecking yard.

The dude at the wrecking yard wanted $25 for it... thought it was some fancy electronic module, not just a $2 relay. I had to argue with him for a bit to get the price down.

Way more drama than I had expected, but my wipers stop reliably now.

Great info. Good thing I have been too lazy to take apart my kick panel and get out the TCU.
