windshield washer issues

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Has anyone had this issue? The stream is strong, but fluid is hitting the drivers side arm, so the windshield is only getting what bounces off. It seems to have my dealer baffled. First they said that the blades I put on were too high, so I told him that the ones that were on before did the same thing, which were from them btw. He then tried the factory blades, and they worked. They tried replacing the washer nozzles to the newer ones, that didn't work either. I'm not buying that the only fix for this is to use the factory low prof blades, but is it?
On a good note, they did address every other 08 EX35 issue..oh, except for the elusive high freq directional ring around 2000rpm, which I guess I'll live with until they come up with a fix, not a guess.
Replaced were... The fuel pump, rear hatch struts, steering rack, roof rails, and the serpentine belt..whats up the Infinti belts going so soon? Sqeal started around 18,000 miles on start up.

Update...They replaced my old nozzles and hose with the same model, only to make it worse. Now the passenger side sprays under the wiper, and the drivers side still sprays onto the arm..rrrr. They were nice enough to order me a set of factory Infiniti wipers..on them..but at this point I'm hoping to get a few more free, or discounted sets out of them, as they are about $40.

I've never heard of this complaint before, here on this Forum.

My dealer noticed my washer nozzles weren't working correctly, there was only one stream from each and it was aimed too high. He said, "give me a couple minutes and I'll have that fixed for you." He took the car to the back of the shop where someone unclogged the nozzles and pointed them in the right direction. Now, three streams from each nozzle hit the windshield in the perfect spots. It sounds to me like you just need someone who knows how to manually adjust them so they fire off correctly.

Yes, I have the same problem on my 2011 EX but not enough to cause me to have it fixed. I recall it only happens on the drivers side.

The dealership has never heard of this happening..and we've never heard that line :chuckle: ..but I'm inclined to believe them on this one, as I've been able to find no documentation of this issue anywhere, and they only sell reasonably priced after market blades. The jets are individually adjustable, and they do clog, but that's not the issue with mine. Anyway, I can live with this one, and with the low prof factory wipers, it will be fine :) They do seem to be better than they were, but still far from perfect.

A large sewing needle and some patience could have solved this problem. :dblthumb:

At least that used to work on my friend's Acura Legend back in the day when they got clogged or miss-aimed.
Seems like the Infiniti repair-person was LESS than knowledgeable in this area. :gotme
Scary when considering the complexity of the other systems in our cars.
Dealer can install all the NEW nozzles they want but they should be AIMED 1st for proper functioning.

Also consider the quality of windshield fluid being used. Some formulations clog more readily than others.
Our dealers might not be the best source as we know they can cut costs/vary widely from one to another especially in grey areas not specified by the manufacturer. :tisk:
