So I'm driving down the interstate yesterday and I look over to the passenger's side of my Z and see my windshield molding hanging off to the right of my passenger's side window! This came as a shock, but then I remembered that when looking over the car (I just bought it last week) I noticed that there seemed to be a black silicone looking substance holding down both sides of the windshield trim... didn't think it was a huge deal at the time, but needless to say some idiot pasted down a bunch of RTV silicone and slapped the windshield moldings back on. SOOOOOO, anyone got any good suggestions? I'll put some pics below so you can feel my pain. I know they sell the clips for these on ebay, but is that all I need to fix it? Does anyone have what I need laying around that they'd be willing to part with for a nominal fee? I'm assuming I'll have to clean out the goo first, and have actually already begun that process. Anyways, pics below - - - -> Feel my pain. :tisk:

Here's what it looked like when I took off the molding before I started scraping:

Here's what the molding looks like off of the car:

And here's the initial amount of "goo" removed:

Whatever it was that the "ritard" (as said in the movie The Hangover) used was as sticky as gum on a shoe. I think it might have been the same stuff that Spiderman's black Venom suit was made out of... so stupid it's frustrating. :tisk:

Ok, now I seriously need some assistance. I ordered new clips online and they came in. Finished cleaning up the molding, put in the clips, and walked it over to the car, and DON'T SEE ANYTHING FOR THE MOLDING TO CLIP TO! I left some of the "black substance" in the crack between the windshield and the pillar, but there is nothing for the clips to clip to. Do they clip to the windshield? If so, I may have a problem because it looks like there's no place for it to clip. Do I need to remove ALL of the residue and then I'll see some tabs for it to clip in to? Keep in mind that the idiot that did this before me just stuck the molding down with that adhesive crap. Someone's gotta know! What's it supposed to look like?

I have the same problem with almost all my mouldings..... I dont know of any clips but if you figure out the windshield and door mouldings then passing that long to me would be great.

If you have the cash you can get moldings from Z1 or Courtsey Nissan... but I think they're muy expensivo...

Here's what I'm doing about my windshield:

Went and got the metal molding strips and all necessary pieces to fix from a junkyard ($25 bucks for windshield molding, 2 speaker covers, 2 taillight access panels, and some other miscellaneous junk). Tried to install myself with no luck due to the idiot who screwed it up before. So I took it to a local auto glass place and told them my dilemma. They said that they could cut out the windshield ($30) clean it up, put it back in ($30) and then urethane the metal molding strips I bought down. Total of $100 bucks completed as long as the glass doesn't break. $200 if the glass breaks as they take it out (but they don't charge me the removal fee). So I will wait until the cash flow is good, and then get it fixed. Problem solved.... hopefully.
