Windshield for 1993-96 300zx Convertible. HELP!!!!!!!!!

I have a 93 300zx convertible with a cracked windshield that won't pass inspection. After hours and hours on the phone and online with countless glass companies, salvage yards, and dealers, I still can't find a windshield to replace my broken one. I honestly can't believe that in the whole world there isn't one windshield that would do the job. I'm told that the windshields are interchangeable between the 93-96, so that makes me even more confused as to why I can't find one.

Please Help! I'd appreciate any advice.

Call another one and DON'T tell them it's a convertible, tell them you have a Coupe.

People freak out when they hear "convertible", and act like it's something completely different.

Same thing happens with my 240sx 'vert....

But the Coupe Windshield will fit on the Convertible frame? Are you positive, and is there some way I can check up on that?

Sorry, not to doubt you or anything, but I just can't believe it's that simple because it's been such a nightmare so far!

We just went through this on a convertible, there are NO 'vert windshields in the US as they are on national backorder.

After a little research, the only difference in the windshield from the 'vert to the coupe is that the 'vert has a small antennae in the windshield where the coupes have it in the hatch glass. The windshield is dimensionally the same and a coupe windshield will fit right in. You will notice no difference in radio reception as you will still have the antennae mast in the rear of the car.

The frame is identical.

Remember, this car started its life as a coupe.

only difference is the vert windshield stock has a built in antenna which you wont get with the coupe windshield. It's useless anyway so no loss.

1990 FairladyZ-on 3zc answered the question for you this morning over on the other site stating the same thing lol.

I really appreciated the info in this forum. My 300zx suffered a bad crack in the windshield recently. Knowing that the coupe windshield will work enabled me to find a couple of places that have these. I found 2 on e-bay for new ones and a couple of them at salvage yards through partshotlines .com. I came across a post a couple of days ago from a guy who found a manufacturer in Arizona who was willing to make these if someone could give him one to make a mold from. He'd have customers for these if he notified the big installation companies as they have no source now- same thing with Nissan dealers. Unfortunately, I can't find that post anymore.

Holy Double Zombie Thread!

Safelite glass did a one day turnaround on my NA years ago, very easy and as cheap as possible....not sure why anyone has had issues finding windshields beyond the vert/coupe question...
