windsheild wipers broke, help please

today when i was driving, my windsheild wipers started going really slow and wouldnt go all the way down. then out of nowhere they just stopped. so i pop the hood and i see the wiper motor out of place. there is a link from the wipers that is supposed to connect to the motor but i cant get it to stay on. the motor has this thing that moves the link connected to the wipers, its a ball that is supposed to go inside the link. i dont know if a part went loose somewhere or not but that ball doesnt stay on the link. anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix it?
