I need a windsheild. The glass shop (Safelite) wants to know if I want the blue tinted glass with the 6" blue shadeband at the top, the bronze tinted glass with the blue tinted shadeband at the top, or the bronze tinted glass with the grey tinted shadeband at the top.My first thought was just get whatever the car has in it now. Actually, my first thought was "You mean there's 3 different shades of glass?"Are these all variations that came on the car, or just aftermarket glass gone crazy? Is there any actual advantage to one over the other as far as glare or UV blockage, or whatever, or is this purely an asthetic thing? Thanks.

Forgot to mention, for whatever it's worth...The second option is $3 more than the first, and the third option is $28 more than the first. Don't know why.

The Q windows are bronze tinted.... The bronze with grey would look the most OEM.

What brand name(s) is the windshield? Down here in LA there is a $100 difference between blue (cheapest) and grey/bronze. Range is from around $200 to $300 (installed) depending on tinting. Was told that the windshields were PPG brand.

It's through Safelite Autoglass. It's their glass, and I mean their glass. They are (were...are still?) the only glass repair company that actually manufactures their own glass. Don't know if that's necessarily good or bad, but they brag about it. Thats part of the reason their prices are always the best too I guess. My thought is just to go with the least expensive unless there is some actual benefit to any other color as far as absorbing UV rays or something like that. At this point, I'm guessing probably not any difference. Thanks

The best reason to go for good glass is to avoid warpage. Warped glass is terribly annoying, as VW Phaeton owners have discovered.
