Windows roll down sometimes

Hey Everyone,

I bought a 1993 J30 that is in good mechanical condition, but needs a little love on the interior. One of the issues that I am having trouble diagnosing is a window problem. Both the driver and rear driver side windows will start to roll down and then stop as if they fell off track. The same thing can happen as the windows are rolling up as well. The motor is going but the windows will not move. If you help correct the window and try to roll it either up and/or down it will work again. Are there any tracks that may need to be replaced or is there some other mechanism that holds the window in place?

it could be two things.1 the window regulator could be bad. or two, you might need to lubricate the tracks on the inside of the door. chek out this site for some great tutorials on stuff like that. http://fuzzycats.com/j30_diy.htm

Likely the drive racks are blown. Check eBay for complete motor/lifter assemblies, about $40.
