Hello all,

I have enjoyed reading these forums for quite some time now, and figured I would make a post. I have a 2007 M35X and I have always had some little spots that look like water spots on the side windows. The problem is no matter how hard I scub I can't get them out. I saw an old post from someone that apparently had some similar spots on the chrome trim around his window and he heard that it could be related to a protective film that wasn't removed. Has anyone had or seen this issue and do you have any ideas of how to resolve it?

Thanks so much for your time.

Rudy

I had a similar issue. I think my car sat in a auction lot for a while and got something on all the windows that looked like water spots. Only thing that got them off was CLR. Be careful because it can be abrasive and scratch the glass. Make sure to use a micro fiber cloth and don't rub to hard.

You can also try to use Mothers Chrome Polish on the windows (says so on their site).

Thanks for the tip.

Well I tried the calcium, lime, rust remover that I bought and it didn't do the trick. I may have to try the pure CLR or just give up.

I did see some info about people waxing their windows...has anyone ever done that? I'm not sure if I would need a rotary buffer for that or now. If anyone else has any suggestions I'm open to them as well. I appreciate all that chimed in.

I have had the same problem over the years. If the water spots are not etched into the glass due to acid rain or something like that and are just on the glass I use a straight edge razor and carefully scrap the deposits off. If the glass is actually etched I am at a lose as to how to fix or hide it. Usually on chrome trim you can genently buff those off. I have gone as far as using the highest grade of wet sandpaper and carefully sanded the spots. But again, if its etched in, neither of these methods will work.

I found something that worked. I bought a Porter Cable and then buffed out the spots on setting 5 with some 3M compound. I am so thankful now for this polisher.

Have a good one!
