Twice in the last couple of months my windows have rolled down automatically during rain storms at work.

The first instance happened several weeks ago. Someone at work told me my windows were down and it was starting to rain. I had left the windows fully closed. They were all completely lowered. At that time I figured I had accidentally pressed the fob button in my pocket which caused the windows to lower.

It rained lightly to moderately all day today. I kept the windows up driving to work, a vendor site, and back to work. When I went out to the car after work my front windows were down about 4-inches and the rear windows were down about an inch.

I have no mods.

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong?

Poltergeist?

:chuckle:

Sorry. Is it lightning during this storm? Maybe doing some kind of electrical shorting out?

No, no lightning. I do wonder about the electrical, though. Maybe something is getting wet?

You have something crazy crossed somewhere. I would almost bet it had something to do with your clicker/fob. I bet somehow something in your pocket is setting it off. Do you keep it close to your cell phone?

Something in the door has to be shorting (would have to be driver's door since nothing else would control the rear windows).

That's my guess, but I'd have to ask a dealer if it were me.

well consider this... when you hold down the unlock button, the windows roll down automatically. First the fronts, and then there is a slight delay for the rear. All I can think of is somehow, your remote is pushing the buttons down. The doors will relock automatically after a minute if you unlock and don't open a door. so the alarm may still be active when you reach your car. I have a little sleeve over my remote (like I sent a few people here in prize packages) that makes it harder to be pushed accidentally. I doubt there is a internal issue.

and becki is right, some phones, especially smart phones, have been known to interfere with remotes when in close proximity.

Thought the fob would only work on the front windows? At least that was the way it worked on my Pathfinder.

when you are at work, are you close enough to the vehicle for your fob to reach? seems like the problem would be in the door

My desk is probably close enough for the fob to work. Some days I'm at the desk all day, others I'm buried in a lab below ground level or the production suite downstairs.

If there is a delay between front and rears when using the fob, it may have been the fob yesterday. I keep it in my right pocket. The phone is in my left pocket.

I may try keeping my fob in my jacket or desk drawer for a while.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Poyzinous, I think you hit the nail on the head. I used the fob to roll them down at lunch. The difference in the front and rear windows matched what I observed last night.

The two times this happened I had parked closer to the building than I normally do.

I'm going to start taking the fob out of my pocket.

Thanks again, everyone!

It only works on the windows with auto feature. If all 4 windows are auto, then all 4 move down with the remote. If only the front ones are auto, only they roll down.

weird, this just happened to me last nite. parked last nite in front of my house and came out this morning to rolled down windows. I've also noticed several times that my trunk was opened somehow. I've read somewhere that it might be a good idea to reprogram the frequency for the remotes.
