Im surprised no one has posted this. Anyways anyone else trying the Windows 7 beta that microsoft released to the public? I've been rocking it since the initial launch and I must say I'm very impressed. Theirs a few glitches here and their especially IE 8.

Anyways its definatly faster, smoother. Very easy to use all drivers detected etc.

Microsoft is still offering the beta for download along with registration keys.

It basically feels like Vista to me, but without some of the annoying Vista crap. Other than that, I didn't find much different about it.

Well its built off the Vista Kernel, its supposed to solve all the Vista problems and not use up a lot of resources. I've used Vista for the past 2 years and Windows 7 is definatly a big improvement.

my Vista was a light weight as well and their was a BIG improvement in just normal functions. Although I never had issues with Vista, Windows 7 is definatly a big plus, even better than XP.

everyone knows Vista and "light-weight" doesn't go together on a sentence, unless "not" is inserted in between. look at all the system that come w/ vista preloaded. you're looking at atleast 2-3gb of ram and 2x core or quads; xp will screams on that kind of hardware.

Yea but those systems also come preloaded with nothing but BULL****. When I installed Vista it was just the OS and the necessary drivers, anti virus, spayware, games and Overclocking software. It would idle around 1GB rarely did it ever hit 1,8GB of RAM usage, usually that was from FF memory leaks.

Yeah how about the world takes BoostFab's advice and starts using a real OS :p.

Recently I read an article how all schools in India, decided to say screw MS and converted all their computers to Linux for all their schools and businesses. China is on the same track. By 2010 they plan on converting all their businesses and schools to purely using Linux.

Wake up world, why spend hundreds and thousands of money on something everyone is going to complain about wither way, where there is so many other free choices out there.

And remeber just because its free and open source doesn't mean it's any worse.

Look at Gimp and Photoshop. Sure I admit I still use Photoshop quite a bit, but that's cause Im still getting a feel for Gimp, and I know for a fact that its just as powerfull.

This reply is also not an attack on MS and their product nor am I trying to convert anyone, just hoping that people out there will finally starting realizing that they are not stuck with just one operating solution.

And Apple's OSX even though maybe better then windows is also going to **** cause of how apple wants to run ****.

Installing Windows 7 tomorrow. I just finished taking a backup of my main drive, just in case, though from what I've heard the beta is stable.

Fab - I'd venture a guess that the majority of web servers are running Apache. That's great, for web servers. I've been using linux & BSD for the past 13 years and still find myself using Vista as my main OS.

My main machine is a single core AMD, with 2GB of ram and Vista runs beautifully in both apps and games. It hasn't BSOD'd a single time since install, which was the day before Vista was "officially' released.

There are good reasons to run either *nix or Win. The thing that makes less sense are people paying for unix. *cough* OSX *cough*
