It certainly is promising. I've been testing it out for about a week now on a spare machine at work.

you can register it for a year using a vista beta and release candidate code which is pretty sweet

Much MUCH MUCH more responsive then Vista. Installed it on Virtualbox using a gig of ram and single core and its pretty damn quick.

Yeah but NDISwrapper the last time I looked worked on *nix operating systems. That being said I haven't tried, it I have vista ultimate it runs ok, but *nix > windows.

actually i fixed it its that homegroups was messing with it, and ndiswrapper is useless now since the rtl8187b is natively supported in the newest kernel which happens to be ubuntu 8.10 which i also have installed

I got as far as to download the 3 gig file - that finished by the time I woke up this morning...i have slow interwebs...backed up my laptop...gonna give it a whirl this afternoon after work hopefully.

I'm moving from vista to 7 rc and will report back any issues/experiences I have with it.

installed last night. Been installins apps tonight. I went with kaspersky 8 technical preview for A/V firewall, so far no problems with anything and I like it.

Some quirks though:

multiple windows are grouped immediately by default, haven't played with the settings here, but I don't like that for all windows.

I like to have a "my computer" toolbar across the top of the desktop and it doesn't appear I can do this like I would in XP.

Well I got mine downloaded and all setup. Didn't get much time to mess with it.

But I really like it - the install took a bit, but I just did an upgrade and it seems like all my music, pictures, videos, etc. all retained and work properly in 7.

I like that you can choose different themes, and that also includes it changes the window color to match the different picture.

I have nothing bad to say about this version of windows....so let's cross our fingers because it's sure blowing Vista out of the water for me!

I have the RC running on my main desktop, runs like a dream! Faster then XP ever did.
