We have the Weathertech ones from mats.com on our Versa and Sentra too. I think they are the best from a fit and finish point of view, and the way they slide into the window channel.

So they haven't broken? Ya they look like that to immitate the Mugen Visors. That is how the Mugen ones look. Were they hard to install? I kind of like them. Did you buy them from the same seller?

I was the one who ordered this set and they were broken on arrival. (The ebay seller was very accomodating and made a settlement with me, so I didn't get ripped off by him.) These ones are black in colour and are not transparent/translucent and are VERY flimsy, unlike the set that blind_snyper has.

I ended up getting a set from the dealer which looks similar to blind_snyper's set, but had repeated issues with the adhesive coming off. I claimed the dealer's accessories/installation warranty and it took 3 times to get it right. But this last set seems to work even in the cold winters we get here in Calgary.

Good luck with your hunt/purchase!

Thanks for the info on the visors. Did the dealer ones cost alot of money? I know at my dealership, the cost is outrageous. It is almost $200 for a set, I'm assuming they are a brand name. That is why I was looking at Ebay/Versaspeed.

I was actually wondering if other people have them and live in a place where winter is bad. I want to make sure that the visors will stay on during the cold/snowy weather in Canada.

Thanks again for all your help

My visor set was about $100 but +100 for install by dealer. I chose the dealer install because at the time I was in a rush to go on a road trip and thus had no time to deal with it. (I'm a bit OCD too so I know I'll take like 4x the time it would for most people to install the set) As mentioned earlier the visors in question was of a faulty batch with poor adhesives, so it took 3 times to get it right. That alone was worth the extra $100 (of course, I'm just trying to rationalize here).

If I had to do it again, I would probably have bought the visors from the dealer (at $100 and immediate availability, I found it a logical choice) but would also have gotten a roll of 3M automotive double sided tape to replace the original stuff.

If I had more time and patience, I would order a set from Versaspeed.

I've got the cheap ones off ebay on my Versa HB, so far they've stuck on through the winter here just outside Calgary without issue. My only complaint with them is the amount the front edge covers, makes the blind spot where the post is even worse.

Unfortunately my driver side rear one was the victim of a rock being flung up while I was parked on a busy road and has a nice hole in it now about the size of a loonie, fortunately the cheap visor did prevent it from damaging the car itself. I may look at replacing them this summer due to that damage, not sure yet though.

One thing the Versa really needs is longer/larger sun visors. The expansive side windows let in way too much glare/heat when you are driving in the early morning and late afternoon.

I paid $30.00 on for mine on eBay and had them installed in about 10 min. That was over year ago and I've had no problems.

Putting on Vent visors will give you another hour or so of protection, but then you need to get creative to cover the rest of the side window.

Where I live you will get a ticket from the first Smokey that sees any window tint on anything except the back hatch and the rear doors. [IMG][/IMG]

Ya the Versa does have alot of glass, which is one reason I really liked it. Lots of visibility. I have all my windows tinted on my Versa except the front windshield. The police over here usually don't complain. Only if you have limo tint all around then they might say something. I noticed a huge difference by having all my windows tinted, it helps keep the heat out.

P.S. Your Versa looks great! Nice tires/rims!

Here is a pic of my V w/ tinted windows.

LONGO:

I was just looking closer at your Versa, did you buy the chrome strips for your Versa from ebay? I saw those on Ebay and was debating about buying them!? Did you buy them from ebay? If so, were they hard to install!?

Thanks!

I don't like chrome at all. I may have to spray paint the Versa, SL and Nissan logos on the exterior a satin gunsmoke gray when I have the chance.

Hi there, you must be looking at the grille and intake vent under it (?) I also have chrome door handles and a chrome tailpipe. Just my personal preference, and probably makes some Versa owners cringe at the thought.

The chrome grille effect is my own project, it's an inexpensive way to dress up the rather boring look of all that black plastic; Nissan even put in black plastic fog lamp surrounds in a white bumper! YUCK~ I painted those out to help hide the fact that I am too paranoid to install fog lamps...traveling on our roads is like running a gauntlet of buckshot. Our highways are constantly 'salted' with sand that has stones the perfect size to take out a windshield, headlights, side mirrors and ding the front hood into crap in one winter. I know from experience that fog lamps are usually the first casualty of winter.

I once bought a "Chrome Kit" off eBay years ago to dress up my equally drab looking new Honda Odyssey. (The new ones now have a factory chrome grill) I think I paid aver $20.00 plus shipping for 4 little plastic strips with 3-M tape on the back. I guess a sucker is born every minute and the guys that deal this stuff must laugh all the way to the bank every day.

Just go to any auto supply store and buy a roll of "fender trim" It comes in a few different styles - pick the one you like.

I use sheet metal cutters to make the angle cuts on the ends. It's neat, accuarate, and easy to do. Trying to cut the stuff with a knife or scissors...isn't.

The roll of 'chrome' trim should cost between $14.00 to $16.00 and there will be plenty to do both the grille and the lower air intake.

It's not metal 'chrome' of couse, but I think it's tougher, and will last longer than any kind of metal up front in the constant blast of road debris.

Here's the link to some pics of the other tinkering I have done to the V' Use the "Slideshow' feature to enlarge and auto scroll.

BTW, once you have each piece cut to the right length, and the protective paper is off the tape, get it right the first time, or you're doomed.

P.S. If that's winter in Ontario I'm moving! Your 08' red V' looks lovely, the paint just gleams!

Longo,

Thanks for all the info. I will definitely try going to an auto supply store now

And the pic I posted was taken the day I had my windows tinted in August 2008. I wish that was now. Currently we are getting another blast of snow My Versa looks so dirty, I haven't washed it in months. I can't wait for summer to wash out all the salt/snow. Winter sucks! LoL

Longo I just checked out all your pics, your Versa looks great. I love the added Chrome. I noticed you added Chrome to the window visors as well. That is sweet looking!

P.S. I bought the same winter tires as you! Hankooks. Plus I bought winter rims, unfortunately there were no black steelies available here, so I had to get a bit fancier ones. They look kind of neat though. Here is a pic !

Hi There, thanks for the thumbs up on my V' You are well on your way to a nicely done SL yourself. I see you got the sunroof and a rear deflector and your 'winter rims' look great.

My V' in the snow with the Hankooks , digs along like a little tank. We had 250 miles of packed snow and ice over a mt. pass and 2 continental divides last month and they never slipped, spun or missbehaved in any way. Drove by a lot of abondoned vehicles off in the ditches that didn't make it through that storm.

Of all our V's little 'glam-mods', I like the burled wood dash kit the best. We ordered the car with the beige interior, so the darker wood tones really make it work.

Putting one of these on is also a nail biter. The 3-M backing is so strong that when a small area touches first, that's it for the whole piece.

If you are going to jazz up your grill a bit with some chrome trim, really be carefull to get it right the first time.

Here's a little trick I use on that stuff...pull off the paper seal over the adheasive and lay it on a very cold grill. you can adjust it for the curves, press it down enough in a few places to make it grab (it won't want to but that's the trick) when it's in place but still loose, run a 'heat gun' over it while you work the chrome trim down onto the plastic. The heat will get everything sticky and the trim will get softer, and with a little coaxing, it goes on and stays on without any major disasters.

[IMG][/IMG]

(The same system helps on the dash kit install as well.

Thanks for all your help!I really love the dash kit. That looks so good. It does look good with the beige interior! Nicely done!

And the winter tires are pretty good. Last night we got some snow, not very much but people were sliding everywhere. My little V hasn't slid around once, or spun the tires either. Snow tires really do make a big difference.

I'm happy with my little V.

I peeled out a few times here when we get snow, hence I don't have snow tires. Winter will be over with in the middle of March and I have no need for winter tires.

So I asked my dealership how much the visors are, and they said they are $174 for them including installation!

$174.00 for vent visors? Are you kidding?

I paid about $30.00 for mine on eBay about a years ago and had them on in 10 min.

If you have tons of spare ca$h you don't need, it sounds like there are lots of guys out there happy to grab it off you.

Don't worry I didn't buy it from them. I am waiting for BOB at versaspeed to get a shipment in. His sets are $40 US plus shipping to Canada.
