When I bought my Q45, the rear window was jacked up so I went and bought another motor with regulator. Now I having the same trouble with my front passenger side window and Im trying to decide if I need to buy another motor, so if its just off track cuz the motor still works from the switch. I took the door panel off and seen that the wire is tangled up. I tried to untangle but no good. Will I need to replace the whole motor unit or is it just off track?

Usually just window regulator fails, motors last until brushes wear down.

The window regulator is the cable/slider assembly and is purchased separately from the window motor. Three screws hold the motor to the regulator assembly. Like Tech said, chances are pretty good that you only need to get the regulator assembly. The motor should be fine.

^ The man is right. I am having the same problem with my front passenger window. I took it apart and found that the regulator is just having problems the motor is just fine. I picked one up on ebay for $50. If you get one from a dealer they are around $150 for new...I guess it's just whatever you can afford

One question, if the motor is good and I replaced the regulator but the wire itself is tangled up, then will replacing the regulator fix the problem. My window slides down when rolled all the way up. Seems like its off track. Another question, is there a quick fix for this?

It sounds like the regulator you bought and installed has problems with the cable or is this in a different door?

At this point you've removed and reinstalled a window regulator at least once so you're an expert like the rest of us. The second time around won't take you but a few minutes. I've sold 9 or 10 of these and what I do to determine if it's a saleable part is to remove the assembly from the door, remove the motor (3 screws), clean and lube the entire assembly-cable, slider, tracks, cable drum, etc.. Get all the dirt out, it will clean up like a new part. Be generous with the lithium grease.

When your done you should be able to move the sliding bar that holds the window freely up and down the track and there should be no binding. If the cable is frayed it's probably not feeding in and out of the tracks and the problem will just get worse. On the other hand cleaning up the cable drum, cable and tracks might work great and bring it back to life, and your hour investment will have saved you $150. Let us know what you find.
