Window Tinting

Just had the clear bra applied to my G. The location where Ihad it done also does window tinting. Quoted a price of $175. He said that he took to door panels off and removed the panels around the back window to remove the brake light. I'm a little concerned about these panels being removed and put back right. This is avery high end shop; lots of exotic cars around.What has been anyone's experience with aftermarket tints and costs. Also. they recommended going with a 20% tint even though the legal tint is 32%. Has anyone been hassled by the police for having a illegal tint.

In the long run it’s not a matter of being hassled by the police. It’s an issue of safety and whether you can see at night while wearing the equivalent of sun glasses. There’s a reason why some tints are legal and others are not.

My understanding has aways been that it was a safety issue for the police. Walking up to a window thatthey could not see into is very dangerous and I certainly understand that. I'm just wondering how much darker 20% is vs 25% or 30%?

I have 20% in the rear and quarter panels and 30% up front. Check out the VIP-Blacked out pics on the forum and you can see the tints. Also the shop in Jacksonville I went to did a very good job and they didn't remove anything ( I watched them do it) Cost me $130 and has a full lifetime warranty.
