I got my first ticket today, in fact my first 3. On my way to work I got pulled over doin 55 behind a box truck in a 65. The CHP tells me that he pulled me over for windows, no front plate, and modified exhaust. Fine whatever, they are all fix-it, right? Wrong. The Window tint is a full fledged ticket now. Isn't that some crap! Anyways thought everyone should know that. I guess minimum is $77 but most people pay $180 or more.

You CAN have your front-side windows tinted, but only very lightly. Your tint-shop can give you guidelines if they are the least bit reputable.

I guess you're starting to think that it must really suck to live in the hippie socialist republic of California huh? I moved out of there about seven years ago and I'll never go back. The great weather and beaches just isn't worth the trade off for that kind of stuff.

Hire more cops to write more tickets to pay for more cops who write more tickets to pay for more cops.............ever increasing circle in California more so than anywhere else.

Next time you get a ticket for something like that, ask the cop if he feels like a real "hero"......

How about you ask him that while I politely decline to enrage the officer.

Ahhh.......I just edited the response I had posted, which was a long diatribe on not laying down and taking what heavy-handed cops think they can dish out. I've had four, yes four, tickets thrown out because I refuse to bend over for Johnny Law. Unfortunately, I'm not too sure what that has to do with this post.

Don't be afraid of the police is the point of my ramblings. What's the guy going to do, write you another ticket for speaking your mind........oh wait, it's California so maybe.......

I live in cali. My friend barely pulled out onto the street from a restaurant and was pulled over for having stolen plates(i guess) and the cop, acting rude and all, said that his license plate was from a bronco. My friend isnt scared of cops cuz he gets pulled over so often. Whatever, so my friend asked for his name and badge number. The cop got scared and started acting nice toward my friend. My friend starts to play the 'yea, i know im right' role on the cop. After that the cop just let him go. Most of them are just harassing import drivers for the hell of it.

I hear that! I just got done attempting to fix a p/s pump, so naturally it didnt work and the fluid went everywhere and made smoke. So anyway, I'm coming to a STOP SIGN and he is going the opposite way, makes a 3 point turn, and precedes to pull me over. He asked the lame "what were you doing that I pulled you over?" Well, I wasn't feeling like I did anything wrong, so I said, Either the smoke, or loud exhaust. He goes, "NO! You were going 32 in a 30, AND accelerating!!" I said, I beg to differ, as I was coming to a STOP SIGN, and down shifted, which caused teh motor to rev high and for you to consider me speeding towards the goal where I will have to ultimately stop. Well, that pisse dhim off and he wrote me the ticket and was 'nice' about it and only gave me "over the maximum limit, and not the actualy units of speed over." He also made it ver, very aparent that eh would show up to court if I went. Which, well I ahve to believe him because he did pull over a red sports car, with loud exhaust, coming to a stop sign. If he can waste that much time on me, why not waste some more?

Yes, California Cops suck..

BUT in a lot of ways they are doing their job.

As far as the tint goes, you can not have any tint in the front windows.. at least in SoCal you can't. I got pulled over for that and got a ticket.. got it removed! payed the $90+ for it..got it written off since you have to remove it.

I even got a ticket for loud exhaust.. I had to go to a California Referee center and get it tested to be under 95dba.

I was at 100+dba... got some silencers.. put them on and passed..

now I am all legit as far as that is concerned.. if a cop pulles me over, my exhaust is legal no tine.. and all is fine..

I have a lot of respect for the police force... They take a lot of crap from people while theya re doing their job.

You modify your car against the law and get pulled over by it.. don't B*&@! and complain.

I know there are a-hole cops out there.. but I'm not going to judge all cops because of what some of them do..

If I did that, I would have judgment towards all kinds of races, religions, and whatever else out there.... get my drift????

I've been trying to find out that since tint is no longer a fix-it ticket is this something I need to go to traffic school for? I can't find anything that says I do nor anything that say I don't.

I think I might contest the window part of the ticket. I was reading everything I can on it and the police commissioner said in an interview that the officers should use their judgment and issue warnings to unaware motorists and tickets to repeat offenders or people trying to conceal something, something to that extent. I told the officer that I had bought the car with the tint on it and was totally unaware that it was a ticket-able offense aside from a fix-it ticket and both statements are true. Anyways yeah I hate tickets.

Someone tell me if I need to go to traffic school for this crap.

No, you can not contest the window ticket anymore...

They used to give out fix-it tickets but it all changed this year...tint tickets are regular fines..

no need to go to traffic court since it is not a traffic infraction.

All you have to do is, take the tint off... get the ticket written off from the cops..

go to court and pay the ticket off... that's it.
