This week, I am planning on tinting the windows on my 2006 350z. The tint is way too light now, (whatever factory was) and i'm looking to get 35%. I would like to get it darker, but in NC its the legal limit, and its not the cops i'm worried about pulling me over, but when my car goes in for inspection, they test the windows. If its below 35, your car fails inspection, and its reported. Does anyone have any pics they can put up of their 350z with window tint? I'd appreciate it, and if anyone has any suggestions as to the film I should get, that would be great. Im looking at Llumar or 3M, however I was told Llumar was better. Its a total of $160 for the side windows, small quarter windows behind the side windows, and rear window. Good price? I think so.Thanks in advance.

The real question is, how dark is the factory tint? If it is 15% and you install 50% you would end up with 35%. If it is more then 15% and you get inspected, FAIL.

A couple of things...

I replaced my windshield a few weeks ago after an unfortunate encounter with a rock from a dump truck and I forgot how big a difference my tint strip on the front made until I had to do without. :( You didn't mention it on your rundown of which windows you were doing, but if it's legal in NC I highly advise getting it done.

Second, you could go around to a couple of local shops and let them check out what's on your car and show you some samples of what it will take to get your glass to 35%. This also gives you the opportunity to check out the shop(s) and let you decide which shop you feel most comfortable taking care of you. It always pays to do your homework.

Thanks for the reply. I have an appointment to get my windows tinted in 30 minutes. Im going with 35% all around. The installer brought up a good point, since my interior is black, and there is not much of a window, it will look darker than 35%. Its $180 to get all of it done, and I am getting it done at Sunstoppers. They have been around for years in Charlotte, and I know a lot of people that have had their windows tinted there. Ill post up a picture if I can find my camera.....
