Ok so I'm about to get my windows done FINALLY. I just wanted to know everyone's opinion on a good percentage to have. I know and understand the laws in Florida where i reside for darkness allowed:Front Side Windows - Must allow more than 28% of light in.Back Side Windows - Must allow more than 15% of light in.Rear Window - Must allow more than 15% of light in.

I am not that concerned about following these laws frankly and want the same percentage all around. What is a good percentage that wouldn't be too easy to look into during the day? I was thinking along the lines of 15% all around. What is a common percentage that everyone has here? Thanks for everyone's thoughts ahead of time.

I have 35% in the front, 18% rear.

I have some issue looking out of 35% at night, especially on darker nights. Then again I live in PA and there sometimes isn't much light around some of the places I drive. As far as during the day I've found 35% to be perfect.

If you go darker than 25-35% percent you will have issues looking around at night. Some people don't care and get it anyway...

I'm also a volunteer firefighter so I know better and will recommend to go with 20% or higher tint-- and never for any circumstance tint your front windshield. That is pure stupidity IMHO. With my rear window 18% I can still see out it and at night I see headlights fine.

Keep it clean, make it look nice, but remember that ultimately your safety is worth more than looks.

i've got 5% all around. It's florida, cops are fine. You cant beat 92 degree heat but you can stay a little bit cooler with tinted windows.

... What? Where's the love for the clear UV/glare blocking tints!!.. 99.9% visibility cmon man! ...

sorry I had to

Aside from that, I have had a few friends with tinted windshields(charcoal, not the UV stuff). If my car wasn't a DD I'ld be all over it. It keeps the inside MUCH cooler, and looks cool with the uniform look all around. IF I did the front, it would be 50% or higher, and ONLY with HID headlights... still considering it *shrug*

My motorcycle visor is factory tinted 25% (I guess, thats what it looks like) and I have NO problems seeing out of it at night.

With that outta the way, I have 15% on sides, corners, and rear.Thats at night, in a fairly well lit parking lot. During the day you can see in just fine from the front, and fairly easily as well from the sides. Cops can recognize its darker than legal at a glance, and if they're having a bad day or strict in your area, WILL stop you. I've got a few friends with 20% and 25%, few have been stopped. Always the same officer that stops any of us though lol. Safest and best overall appearance.. honestly I say is the 25%. 15% is a touch darker than I normally like, but I like the high contrast look against the red.

5% FTW.

Anything else just doesn't look right to me.

this is one of those questions where if you ask 10 people you will get 10 different answers,

so here is my answer or opinion, 25% all windows (excluding the windshield of course) , this way your night time visibility isnt that affected.

i wouldnt go 5% because that seems to be something you would more likely find on a 1988 chevy beretta with a double decker rear wing

I've got 5% in the back and 20% up front. Same thing I had on my last car. It got tough to back up at night in my Civic with these tints, but other than that I was ok driving at night. Now, I've got a backup camera, so no more problems.

Well my Western PA friend, actually no. I've never had any problems in PA at all with the fronts 35% and the rears 17%. However, I was recently in NY state to visit my grandparents and got pulled over (well I was speeding). He let me go on just the illegal tint. Not sure what the ticket is worth yet-- waiting for the judge to make a descision and send it to me in the mail.

But as far as PA is concerned, never had issues.

Hell yeah. I've been given a hard time about it before, but it helps with the tints. Plus, parallel parking is a breeze with this thing too, even in the tightest of spaces.
