i have a 96 240sx and my passenger side window is completely gone i can pull it up and push it down w/out any resistence...i found a used window motor for $90 shipped but my question is how hard would it be to install and new window motor?i already have the door panel off any advice from there.....is this something i could do in a day or should i just shell out some cash and take it somewhere??

you need a window regulator it is broken at the top where the cable runs over it.

if you already have the door panel off the hardest part is done.

the door panel came off but at a cost....i ended up breaking a couple snaps...so where can i find the regulator? should i just buy the whole motor assembly and pull the regulator off it? how do i get to it and install it?

the motor and the regulator are 2 individual peices that bolt together. the regulator is help to the door by 7 bolts. you need to remove the 2 bolts holding the glass to the regulator. pull the glass up out of the door. then undo the the motor harness plug near the speaker opening in the door. detach the connector from the door panel by squeezing the retainer from inside the door. remove the 7 regulator bolts and pull the regulator and motor out of the door through the opening in the door. lay it on the ground use a #3 phillips screw driver and remove the 3 screws holding the motor to the regulator (take note of the orientation of the motor on the regulator before taking it off so you put it on the new regulator correctly. swap the motor to the new regulator and reassemble in the reverse order.
