I'm replacing motors on my windows because they aren't working of course. My regulators move freely as I move them by hand but the windows move around in the frame as they go up. The weatherstripping looks good in there and I've sprayed silicone in there to make it all slick. I see only one bolt at the bottom of the window frame towards the rear of the front door and have tightened up the frame some with the small amount of adjustment there is. I have cleaned and greased the regulators very well too. What am I missing here? Might I still need new felt inside of the frames? Or would the regulators allow that much movement within the window frame? Thanks, RQ

So I'm using the search function too and I'm seeing where some Nissans and Infinitis use an amp for the window motors? Is this true for the '97 J30?

your window motors may be bad and about to fail, my drivers one the glass moved around alot then suddenly the window wouldnt go up and found out the inside of the motor was all fallen apart cause it has a rubber gear inside, yours could be about to break. i know my passenger one is about to fail too just dont want to do it yet. if i remember the window motor was about 25 to 30 bucks with the core return. look into your motors could be the issue.

I've actually repaired that rubber gear inside of my regulators with success. I have pictures of the whole process. It's quite simple in theory. Basically use JB-Weld to glue the gear back together.

My driver window is in the stuck-down position since Friday night. I pulled the panel and looked around inside the door and I assume it must be the motor; I still hear it trying to work but the window isn't going up. It will roll the window down, just not up. The window won't stay up on its own, afyter the first bump, down it starts to slide!

You say you have pics and some how to info you could share? I would LOVE some guidance...

Thanks.

I didn't use jb weld, I tried this many times, but with no success. I eventually made a plate out of 1/16" metal and screwed it to both the outside gear and the inside spindle. It has worked great ever since.
