Window Regulator removal 2003 QX4

My driver front window quit working (and the switch isn't providing power to the motor) after the window was all the way down. Thus, the screws holding the glass to the regulator are pretty much inaccessible because they are behind the metal frame at the bottom. I have tried to raise the window with my hands but it barely budges. Any suggestions on how to move the regulator/window up if it all the way down? Thanks.

That's a cable-drive regulator with the cable running up the center of the guide rail. Get behind the guide rail with a hook, pull the cable aside and sever it. I usually use a pneumatic cutter wheel and just sever the whole rail, but with the window full-down there wont be much clearance to the glass for any other type of tool.

Thanks, that's a great solution. But instead, after I loosened the screws holding the regulator/motor to the frame I was able to wiggle things so that I could squeeze down and reach the easier screw with a small ratchet/socket. For the more difficult to reach screw (towards the front of the door frame), I cut a small rectangular opening through the blocking frame metal with a cutter wheel on my Dremel. Then I could reach the screw with a short extension on my 1/4" ratchet.

Cutting the sheet metal works too, there are some setups where I've had to bust out a step drill or holesaw. Depends on the geometry of the door, some just don't have any wiggle room at all. Fortunately yours did. Good job.
