My buddy has a 2004 G35, and there's something going on with the window on the driver's side. Whether the window is up or down, if you use the 1-touch window up, the window will go all the way up, then come back down about 3 inches. The only way to get the window all the way up is to hold the button (first click) until the window is all the way up. It never used to do this before, and nothing has changed as far as the wiring goes. Any suggestions??

Yeah, it's usually a faulty sensor and/or motor.

In the G-Series General Chat, not too long ago someone asked the same thing, only it was the passenger side.

Hi.

Dont know if you have tried this yet, but the power window motors are small D.C. motors. As with any D.C. motor they use brushes as the contact between power and ground. overtime the dust of these brushes can contaminate the entire motor casing causing control and response problems due to short's in between the 2 contact points. its very simple to repair. start by removing the door panel. remove all the bolts that secure the steel plate to the door frame. remove all the bolts that secure the window slides and power windo motor. once the motor is exposed remove the 3 phillip screws that hold the motor cap in place. remove the cap and rotate the motor untill it all comes out. At this point you will see the brush dust build up all over the place. use a couple of q tips and some pressurized air to clean it up and reassemble. once its all back together just teast it and see if the resultas are what you were looking for. total time about 2 hours. 1 to dissasemble and cleane, 1 to reassemble and test.

good luck

You can also reset the motor. Remove the door panel, then connect the switch. Run up the window all the way. Disconnect the window motor, reconnect the motor. Close the door. open the door. push the switch to go down on auto. then pull it on auto to come up. It should go all the way up and stay. Thats how i've fixed that for years.
