ok so ive done my share of searching and i think ive come up with some possible solutions: first of all, the problem that im having is that my window on my drivers side is stuck halfway down and wont budge either way. i suspect that its most likely the motor because ive been having this probmlem for weeks now and whenever that would happen i would just bang on the door and hold the switch down and that would typically solve the problem. when i tried that today, my window went halfway down and just stopped...tried pounding it and nothing happened...i still hear the clicking noise when i push and pull the switch for the window to go up and down so i know that the wiring is still good which is why im suspecting the motor...am i right? if so, i read that i might be able to hook up a car battery to two wires and tap those onto the wires leading to my window motor and that could possibley solve my problem...is this true? im also trying to see if theres any way i can manually roll up my window so that it wont be vulnerable to theft and what not while i look for a new motor...got any suggestions? oh and does it matter what kind of wires i use? and where exactly am i tapping the wires to? thnx in advance!

If the problem is the amp, then connecting motor to battery might roll up window.

The most common problem is a faulty window amp.

You know the switch is working because amp is clicking . You also know power is getting to amp. You dont know if power is getting to motor. Hook motor to 12 volts to see if motors work. Or observe motors to see if they are working. You might have a mechanical problem like the window regulator. power goes from switch to amp to motor in that order.

this might sound like a stupid question but how would i go about hooking up a 12v to the motor?

Not at stupid question. it needs ground and 12v+. Ground is any metal part of car. 12v+ is positive of battery. is your motor doing anything to indicate it is getting power when you push button? most likely the amp is not sending power to motor. if your motor is making noise, is there something stuck that prevents window from moving?

i only know the wiring diagram. blue and green wire for ground and 12v+. motor should just reverse if you reverse the wires. if this starts motor , it is likely the amp that is problem.

yeah, if your motor wont work with 12v+ and ground applied directly.hooking to car battery is fine.

as long as speaker wire is as thick or thicker than blue and green motor wire.
