Well, its time to operate on the passenger door. The window has been making a "popping" noise, when I lower it. I thought it was dirt in the seal sticking to the window (and it might have been). I also noticed about a 1/2" slack, when opening and closing, as well, but went all the way down, and sealed fine when up. I put it on my to-do list, but not very high up.

Then, Sunday, on my way to the car, after church, I used the remote to open the windows. I could not see the car, so I held the button down a long time, just in case. (I don't know if this contributed to the problem, or not.)

We got in the car, and headed down the road. My wife has long hair, so she hit the up switch. "Do you have the windows locked out?" "No" So she held it down, and the window started coming up, after a delay, only to stop about 2" short of the top. Being a bright person, I ran it down, then back up 2 times, now it is 4" shy of the top. "Great!". When I stopped for gas, I pulled the glass up with my hands.

Obviously, the motor linkage is loose, broken, or bent. I found some paperwork in the previous owner's pile, where a shop replaced the passenger window motor about 5 years ago. I hope they didn't screw anything up.

Also, there is a wiring short in the door, that locks/unlocks my doors at will. This has left me locked out twice. It seem like a good time to troubleshoot that.

Now to my request. Does anyone have some directions on how to remove the door panels without destroying them? My Cheap-A$$ CD Manual is a pain to use, and no help.

Thanks!

Look at the door speaker installation repair procedure. There are some posts on this forum also.

Just printed them out. Excellent directions.

Now all I need, it some insight into the windo regulator/motor linkage adjustment.

Thanks for the help!

Mark the bolts before you remove the regulator/motor assembly and put them back in the slots in the same place. I doubt the motor is bad, should just be the regulator.

Jeff, if the window regulator mechanism in your Q is anything like the J30 (I'm assuming they're very similar) there is no adjustment possible.

On the J30, when your windows start giving you problems, 9 out of 10 times, you have to just replace the window regulator. It's not a serviceable part.

If you look at my J30 website, there's a PDF that explains the procedure in detail for replacing the window regulator on the J30. I know it's not specific to your car but it should give you an idea of what to expect. Again, I'm assuming the design is similar between the two cars.

Good luck. Here's the link to that .PDF file.

Sounds like a regulator to me. Just replace it and you should be fine. Carlos' site is a good estimate of what you'll be doing - nothing too difficult. Just make sure you remove the speaker assembly as well and you should have plenty of access.
