Hello guys -
I'm new to the forum but have already learned a lot from reading other posts.

The window motor on the front passenger door has stopped working. I've seen the instructions on how to remove the motor/regulator assembly.
Here's the thing....
The motor is frozen in place and the 09 door layout allows very little room to reach the bolts holding the glass to the regulator. The window has to be in 'just the right' position to access both mounting bolts. There's my problem... its not in the right position.

Is there a way to manually release the motor ? or otherwise get the window into the correct position?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Tom

I don't know the specifics of the 2009 pathfinder window system, but I have done a few motor changes on other makes/models.
Can you see or tell how the motor drives the window?
Some of them are direct drive while others have either a cable, or a chain.
I've had to disconnect the drive system from the window, in some cases, in order to get the glass to drop to the right location.
If you can do that, then you're home free.

Ford has a couple of models where you actually have to use a small hole saw and drill holes in the sheetmetal to get to the rivets holding the window motor in. Then drill those out.

If all else fails that technique may work here....... drill two holes to get to the regulator bolts and release the window. (I assume the motor is behind the window at this point and is not accessible.)

Yes the window mounting bolts are behind the sold sheet metal.
The only option I can think of short of drilling holes is to remove the mounting screws that hold the motor and regulator in place... then try to fish the whole assembly around to a position that will allow me to reach the bolts to release the windows.
I was really hoping to avoid drilling any holes.

Before replacing the motor, have you tried applying 12v directly to the motor to ensure it's not an electrical issue?

I haven't. I actually planned to remove the motor and assembly and do some testing of the motor. I have isolated the fault to the motor/assembly however. Doesn't work with either passenger door or driver door control and can hear the relay click when pulling on the switch, and the motor doesn't whine like its a bound up track. The others work fine. I think that means that it is in the assembly/motor.

Well, if you can get to the screws / bolts that are holding the motor in, go ahead and pull it. Go to rockauto.com and look up window motors for your vehicle. They have some photos you can look at. Looks to me like the motor drive end will just pull out once you undo the mounting bolts.

Then you can manually try to jiggle / wiggle / cuss / the regulator assembly into moving. The right combination of cuss words can often be very effective. ;)
