My rear window window is bronze. Also, there is a silverish discoloration INSIDE the glass around the edges, there are numerous small streaks in that silverish discoloration. I'm 99% certain its not on the inside or outside. It seems to be on the same level as those little black dots inside the glass around the edges (dont know what that is). However, i re-tinted the glass and then we could really see the glass looks sun-beaten or something, --------anybody else has this? any known recalls on rear glass? ---I'll try to attach pic, but i've been unsucc, recently.

JT you could be looking at a discoloration between the 2 pieces of glass, the rear window is of the same construction as the windshield, when the tint shop cracked mine it cost $900 for a new one, I let em off the hook with a used bronze tinted one (bronze is the most expensive of the 3 shades) the glass is constructed from 2 pieces, I think Tech posted somethin on this a few years ago when mine broke.

I figured the construction was such. But daggg man, all my other windows are so clean and a nice dark charcaol, and the rear has this fringed border w/ and bronzish... no recalls here huh? I cant afford to replace it, so i'll have to live with it.

glass is de-laminating-constructed of 2 layers og glass with a plastic film sandwiched inbetween-common problem on older mercedes.no fix possible-be lucky our side glass isnt laminated like some of the new luxuryliners.

Bronze is a special 3 piece solar radiation coating. Why the rear window cost > $1000...........tinting is a no no because of defroster, dual antenna etc and the coating..........damages window.

Never seen one damaged except by tinting!Never seen one replaced except in accidents.

Self inflicted wound.

will it continue to de-laminate across the entire window?

This is the first time i've seen this, how is it that this was caused by tint.

in my opinion, the tint did not cause the damage,I have seen PLENTY of older mercedes with no tint with the delamination problem.the tint also will not interfere with the antenna unless it is a high performance metal tint, which will shorten the range of the diversity{on glass} antenna element, and any radar detection{from the rear}-as far as the degogger element,in my experience,it remains unaffected by the tint,or possibly improves its speed in defogging by trapping the heat it generates between the glass and tint layer.I have used Formula One full metal tint on my last 2 infinitis{over 11 years} and have no problems with the lamination.

The tint did not damage the window, the 3M idiot did.
