This morning I hit the button to roll down my window and I was greeted with a grocking noise from the window. Now the window is down in the door and doesn't come up, even though the window motor s audibly running.

Questions: What's the repair? Can I do it myself? If so, how do I get the inside of the door off to get at the window and the mechanism

Thanks.

Very common problem. Broken window regulator, connects window to motor. Under $100 part, straightforward, bolt on replacement. Pull the armrest toward the rear, disconnect bolts and clips, swap it out, reverse. You can pull up the window by hand and it should stay in place while you're waiting for the part. Grocking noise? Must have read "Stranger in a Strange Land".

I got the armrest off, took out the 3 screws, but I'm not quite sure what clips you are referring to.

OK, I've got the entire door panel off now, with the loss of only one clip. But now what? The window will only come up out of the door a couple of inches. How do I get it up, and how is the broken part to be replaced. (Can't seem to find anything about it in the manual.)

It's in the body section, page BF-12 in my manual. You might have to run the motor back and forth or remove the regulator to get the window to stay up. The broken pieces may be jamming things Good luck, you've almost got it!

911/Q45 and/or anyone, I now have to replace my rear window regulator.

The shops want too much money for the job, so I will do it myself. On a scale of 1 - 10, how difficult is this job? Will I need any special tools for the job?

It's fairly easy.... just order the new part and you'll understand how it's attached. A few bolts and it bolts on to a peice that's glued to the bottom of the window. Once you have the door panel off I'd say if an oil change is a 2 and injector replacement is an 8, this would be a 4.

Run a Sharpie around your attachment bolts before you remove them and alignment during assembly will be easier. No special tools required.

Thank you very much!

I ordered the part from Scottsdale on Saturday.

I recently was looking for an intake runner [mine was broken]. Infiinit of Scottsdale price for NICO was $60 something (do not remember exact) - Lisle Infiniti quoted me $37.50. I have seen this before in the past a well.

Just make sure you call around [if you care for extra savings...] making sure you are getting the best deal @ Scottsdale.

I want to publicly thank 1qckser, (Todd), for replacing the window regulator in my 91 Q.

He did it with one bum hand and me in the way. :)

Thanks much, Todd!!
