Alright, any body shop guys out there?

Just got my S13 about 3 weeks ago (finally). When i got it, the window crank (yes, manual windows) was hard to operate. It finally broke last night, it just spins and the window stays put. This with rain on the way and the window down about an inch and a half. Needless to say, the interior got a little wet. I opened the door up today to see if it was something i could fix. I was only able to get the interior panel off, but that was as far as i got. This is definitely beyond my capabilities. Now, to my question. Is there a way to open the door to replace the crank assembly, or am i gonna have to get a new door just because the window won't crank? How much is a body shop gonna charge me to do this? It's going in tomorrow to fix the other door that got hit the day i bought the car.

Damn, I wish someone helped this guy. I just bought a 92 240 w/crank windows. the drivers side rolls down easily enough but now it won't crank back up! I got it to go up about half way but it just won't move anymore- the handle or the window. does anyone know if there is a part that binds or wears out I can replace? I took the interior panel off and I can see the cable that rolls the window up and down but it's hard to so where the problem is. I know I need to get a FSM- until than any advice is appreciated.

I unbolted the piece that the handle attaches to. there was a spring wound around the cable that came disconnected from somewhere? and was binding up the cable pulley. I cut the spring off and it rolls up and down now. I don't know where the spring came from or if it was a critical piece- any ideas?spring was attached like this->--------------////---------------

it was most likely in the plastic retainer on the regulator to keep the cable housing tensioned against the upper guide.

will my window assembly hold up without this spring? or will it stop working eventually because this spring is missing?

The spring shouldn't affect it. I've had that happen too, still working fine I believe 4 or 5 months running so fear not friend.
