So I was applying some RainX to my 2014 Rogue when I noticed the plastic trim at the base of the windshield has popped off of the glass. I can't get it back in place. Anyone else have this issue? Of course my warranty expired last month!

98 views and no replies? Oh well. The dealer ordered the wrong part, so back to the drawing board and two weeks down the drain. They did offer me a great deal on trading my 2014 in for a 2017, though. The first dealer I took the car too never bothered to even call me back after getting a tech and 2 service advisers out to evaluate the problem. Perhaps Nissan just isn't equipped to handle the service related issues that come with their best selling vehicle :( Maybe I should look into the Sportage or Tucson instead as KIA just earned JD Power's # 1 spot 2 years in a row with Hyundai not too far behind.

I actually have a 2016 Rogue. I purchased it on Halloween from the time I drove it home I had all types of sounds, from vibrations to rattles to even creaking. I was tired of going back and forth to the service department. This was actually a replacement to a 2014 Rogue I had. I just felt like I was living at the dealership and I was loosing time at work and from my personal life. So I decided to hold off until my first oil change. Went in for my first oil change and told them about all of the noises I was hearing. They told me the creaking was from a screw in the back tire that wasn't even a half an inch big and did not damage to the tire. The rattle they said was the seat belt and vibrations they could not duplicate. I drive the car home and the creaking and rattle is back. April the camera in the right side mirror starts to not work right. So back to the dealership I go. I tell them again about all of the noises and now the camera. They tell me that the creaking was the cross arms not torqued to spec so they re-torqued them. Told me the radio need to be updated so they updated it and that should fix the camera. The rattle was due to the idle so they upped the engine idle and vibrations they told me to make the radio louder. Oh and I have a popping or banging noise coming from the bottom of the floor board when I release the gas. Happens mainly when I am in stop and go traffic. I drive the car home and the next day the camera stopped working. I go back and tell them its not working and tell them about all of the noises and the popping. Again they tell me to make the radio louder, said the popping might be the axle and I will have to come back for that and they replaced the camera. I go back they tell me the popping is normal and I could test drive another customers car. I said thanks but no thanks not about to drive someone else's car. I take my car to another dealership for the popping and vibration. They looked over my car and in a day and a half told me it was my windshield and that it would cost me to fix it. I said the car is brand new not even 5,000 miles how will it cost me I have warranty. They told me the warranty does not cover aftermarket windshields. I said but its not aftermarket that's the windshield that came with the car when I bought it. Sure enough when I picked up the car they pointed out how the window is NOT a Nissan window and I was sold a brand new car at full price with an aftermarket part. Now I am fighting Nissan to take the car back because I don't want a damaged car and I am trying to get them to fix the window at no cost since they sold it to me that way. My windshield looks like yours the way it comes off the windshield. Supposedly whoever installed it did not install it correctly.
I would attach pics but I don't know how to LOL

Irishgirl83;

You don't have a damaged vehicle. Your windshield was probably replaced because of a stone chip or as I noticed yesterday with my rogue a crack that started for no apparent reason. Windshields are replaced all the time. Companies like Safelite and others will even come to your place of work or home and change it in your driveway or the parking lot.

Having a windshield replaced is really so common that the dealer probably didn't even remember it was done. Something probably chipped the windshield during delivery from the factory to the dealer.

Have your insurance replace it. Most insurance policies have a $50 deductible and they take care of the rest. I'm going to have mine replaced in a neighboring town by a guy that waives the deductible if you drop your vehicle off at his place of business. So mine will be replaced free. Safelite and other companies like that operate out of a mobile van so you can't really go to their physical location.

I can't go through insurance because the window isn't chipped or cracked. It will cost me $400 to fix through safelite. I have full glass coverage with my insurance but since nothing is wrong with the windshield I can't go that route. Dealership says they never replaced the windshield.

They replace them for hail all the time but they will say they didn't. The norm. And very possible there is NO Nissan glass there, they contract much of that out, so the guy may be pointing to a sticker that is a Nissan vendor on the assembly line. Funny, they pull stunts like that all the time. They commonly have more than one parts vendor on the assembly lines all the time so if problems crop up in one maker's parts they can quickly swap to another brand to keep the line going.

One of these days people will figure out the more you complain the less the dealer takes care of you and the more they drag out 50 million reasons why they can't fix your car. Not saying that's right but it IS what it is. Why nobody has touched one of my cars for over 45 years and life is great. When I drive a Nissan off the lot that is the last time they will ever see it.

The OP above doesn't not realize the trim plastic at base of windshield has simply warped outward from heat. Not intended to seal there, it never was. Mainly a water deflector, if it was intended to seal you would see the seal at the top. Simply an appearance thing. That entire area is a water dump zone, it will be flooded under that plastic on both sides at rain time.

So if it wasn't intended to be sealed why did Nissan tell me it should be sealed and that is where my issues of vibrations are coming from and that it's not covered under warranty because its an aftermarket window. Seems to me they are trying to pull a fast one on me. Car is 7 months old with just a little over 5,000 miles. It is brand new have had vibrations in this car since day one. I can't even get corporate to help me out.

Damn, Irishgrl83! I thought I had it bad. I asked a Nissan tech if I smash my windshield on purpose so that Safelite would do the replacement for free. They acted like it wasn't a bad idea. People slash/puncture their tires when they purchase tire warranties after all. Nissan Corporate supposedly opened a complaint on my behalf against that first dealership that never called me back. I then asked if they could offer me a discount on a new car. V.W. once offered me $1,000.00 off the purchase or lease of any new V.W. when my Passat was causing me to live at the dealership as well. Nissan's offer was a discount such as $175.00 below invoice price depending on the vehicle I'd like to get. For example, a new Rogue would be $175.00 below invoice while a new Titan or Armada would be $1,000.00 below invoice. If you have a case number and a regional specialist assigned to you, I would keep following up with that person. You may have to pay something out of pocket, and they may reimburse you. That's what they told me anyway, but I said screw the repairs and bought a 2017 Rogue SL instead.
