So I seem to be confused. When I look in the FSM it looks like the car window should auto down and up. Currently only the auto down fuction works. It feels like there is that additional movement in the switch when placed in the down position. You know that feel where you have made it past the normal down manual operation position but it doesn't feel like there is a corresponding auto position for the up direction and the window only works in manual going up. Does anyone know for sure that a 2000 Q45 has both auto up and down windows? Just trying to make the car work like it should.

I only recall auto down on the driver's side. I'll try to check tomorrow.

It looks like I'm going to have to pull the door panel and reset the limit switch. The FSM and the Owners manual both say there is an auto up feature. It may be that the limit switch thinks the window is closed when it is open preventing operation in the closed direction. The same should be true for the passenger front window.

So what gives? I pull the door panel off expecting to find a button to push to reset the window like the FSM says and all I see is the motor through the door opening. It looks like it should be easy to access when looking at the FSM. You obviously wouldn't want to have to take the motor out to get to the reset. Am I missing the snake in front of my eyes or is the FSM misleading?

When I look at the list of service manuals, there's one for a 2000 Q45 and one for a 2000.5 Q45. I can't seem to open that section in the 2000.0 manual. The 1999 manual doesn't show a reset button. I'm thinking that there were rolling changes for that era of Q that made the new manual necessary... maybe one of them was an upgrade to the window motor controls?

You hit it right on the head. I have that manual on my computer also but many of the sections do not open up when I select them. The electrical does open and they changed the window operation during the 2000 model year. Auto down for the drivers window is the only auto operation availabl. No encoder or limit switch is on the early date code 2000 Q45's. I'm not sure if the 2000.5 means vehicles manufactured after May or not. I guess that make sense. So from now on I will look at the earler manual to see if it has information that will open, if not then I will use the 2000.5 manual. Thanks for the reply Heath.
