Hey All,

Just wanted to post the paint related mods to the car as promised over time. Going to start with a couple that I have pics of and follow with the remaining ones over time.

No comments necessary, just sharing here.

1) Calipers: (Simple Paint on stock calipers with Nissan Lettering)

Close Up:

From a Distance:

2) Engine Cover:

Close Up: In the Bay:

3) Mustache:

4) Stillen LIP:

Burger is still in paint due to a mess up, should have it tomorrow. (Note: Body shop is re-doing the burger again, they rushed the job and it showed.)

More to come soon ....

Good job, I hope you used high temp primer because it holds up better in extreme conditions.

Absolutely, for both of the above paint jobs. Wasn't even willing to risk a peel in the future. (Good point here for those of you interested in doing paint work in high temp areas .....

08,

I did the calipers myself, took a few hours but did them right. As for the engine cover, I had it preped and shot by a shop along with my Stillen Lip, Mustache, and Front Burger. Got the Engine cover today, rest of the parts tomorrow. All parts shoud be on by the meet on Saturday.

BTW - The car just looks clean from afar, it has slight issue everywhere IMHO. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist unfortunately.

Got them on e-Bay, was pretty cheap. I'll look up the specific purchase and post it here.

Basically, I transferred them to the calipers post painting and did an out line clear coat to fix them extra good.

Whats so coupe specific about it? other altimas dont have calipers or engine covers? is the application different? I didnt move the thread (someone else did) but lets keep on topic please.

Wind- i see NISSAN reflecting off the inside of your wheel in the first pic, is the inside of your wheels painted glossy all the way thru to the other side?! My gloss paint ends at the face of the wheel.

Wind, as always, great work man.

Mind sharing what paint you used for the calipers again? (I think you mentioned it before a while back)

LBC,

The paint on the wheels goes all the way through, but like any other paint job it is of lower quality as you go to the side that isn't generally seen. In general, I think MODA did a real good job on these rims.

The paint itself was Dupli-Color Red Caliper Paint. Three coats of paint does real well. At first I was scared the color was off, but after drying it changed to the red I wanted.

As for the primer, I bagged half a can of some sort of hi-temp shop primer from a friend. Don't rember the name. One coat of primer after cleaning and sanding and cleaning again.

Hope that helps,-- Wind

OK, Stillen Lip is finally on, and the mustache is back in place also. Turns out the paint guy got confused on the burger so he's in the middle of a redo on it. Should get it tomorrow.

I'll be taking pictures this morning and posting the interim work.

Matt,

Here is a link to the Nissan Lettering I purchased on eBay. My original purchase was already deleted from the site so I tracked down the same guy from before.

Basically, I took some modelling clear coal paint and set a thin line in the edges of the letters. This way the letter will resist peeling a bit more than if they were just layed on top of the caliper paint.

I should have the Burger tomorrow barring any more screw-ups. Once on, i'll update the pics.

Soon after that i'll be taking pics in some sort of setting to show the corners and profile. Gotta update the sig also.

The burger is attached to the grill by 4 plastic clips, basically pressure clips. If you can get your hand down to it you can push it out with a bit of effort. Unfortunately, due to the upper part of the bumper, those with large arms will find it pretty uncomfortable. If you have short arms, you're screwed (as in, start unscrewing the bumper.

Nothing yet, the shop rushed the burger leaving it in no condition to mount. I told them to redo the job.
