anyone ever seen awindage tray, or scank scavenging plate for a ca?

the theory is that at relativly high revs (like CAs, go to ~8k) that splashing oil thatsticks to the crank causes resistance for the crank when its above the surface of the oil.. so in theory, a windage tray will settle down the oil in the pan, and a crank scraper will strip the upcoming oil off the crank, so it can do its upper part of the rotationwith less disturbance.

it doesnt seem that hard to make a crank scraper, maybe a piece of 1mm sheet, and cut out the shape for the crank, and just bolt it between the block and pan... id think red RTV should be able to handle 1mm extra clerance on the ends

so,anyone seen either for sale anywhere, or made one? (looks like a relativly easy project to make one)

There is already a "windage" like baffle in the oil pan.

true, but more 'compartments' would mean less splashing (?)

These guys--- make custom pans

http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/index.html

I was pondering trying to pick up a decent pan --get it to them and have them fabricate a decent pan with baffles etc. ( but I do not have a spare oil pan)

maybe we could scrounge up a group buy--although different pans needed for Strip vs track/street
