how many of us can complain about wind noise? probably all of us since we are in convertibles. well mine is a little bit excessive around the two quarter windows, i believe i can reduce some of the noise just by adding some more kinda thicker weatherstriping, or maybe some other way. who has done this? anyway, or any suggestions at least?

put the top down and enjoy the wind!!!

I guess I just accept the windnoise as a fact of life with a convertible.

If you wanted to work on it... take a look at the exterior of the car... Any points that stick out or flap or don't line up perfectly are going to cause wind noise. Adjusting your windows and moldings so that they are all as straight as possible will certainly help.

haha, thanks, thats pretty obvious. i was looking more for an elplanation as to what to use to add to my trim or something to make it a tighter fit on my windows. i can already see the areas that arent as good. for example the driver's side quarter window has a lot of noise because the weatherstrip on the top does not even completely connect to it. so what do i use to possibly add to it to make that connection. trust me i ride with the top down a whole lot. its been 85 here almost every day. which reminds me i need a boot so my headliner doesnt fade cuz its a new top....but yea thanks man

If the weatherstripping is in decent shape but the window doesnt seal too well you can adjust the quarter window to fit better. If you pull off the plastic trip around the window with the window up you can adjust a couple set screws that are used as a stop for the window. By unthreading them a bit it should allow the window to be raised a bit more when you put it up to create a better seal.

This is just something I noticed while attempting to replace the window the other day, but if you pull the trim away from the window, you'll see what I'm talking about.

I had my whole rear seat and interior trim pieces pulled, but you should be able to do it with just the piece that butts up against the inside of the window. It has the one clasp in it for the boot to attach to and is the one closer to the window of the two clasps. Think there was two screws holding it in. put window down to take it off, then put the window up to adjust everything.

I didn't change mine since I'm still in the process of putting in the new window, but it's something I made a mental note on the other day while I had it pulled apart.

yeah if you have any holes in the weatherstripping replace it, but most of that will just be lining up the windows better and making sure the top has the right tension on it to pull the fabric tight when its closed (the straps rot over time and let the top catch the wind and it makes noise).other than that.. its a vert its never gonna be that quiet, esp. since it was designed in the late 80's...

I am working on adding a small rear window for while the top is down, it acts as a wind deflector and does not allow for the tunnel effect, my audi cabriolet has something similiar, it works amazing.

my top is pretty new, so i know my straps are ok. but is there a mechanical adjustment on making the top tighter? on the drivers side, i think the top could come towards the front of the car just a little bit to make it a tighter fit.

I don't know I think its largely not adjustable, but I know on my car the pass. side strap that tensions the top when its up is rotted through so I get some ragtop flap at high speeds.
