When I bought my wheels and tire from Tirerack I saw a neat product on their website and wanted to ask you a couple of questions:The product is a small 12 V compressor that has a can of tire sealant. It suppose to repair your tire puntures temporally and allow you to drive to a tireshop. (pretty nice concept)

Will the tire sealant permantly damage your tire? has anyone has any experience with tire sealant before?

I remeber learning about these in chemistry..

They fill the hole in your tire and are meant to be used temporarily.

They are EXTREMLY flammable/ combustible and should not be used close to a heat source. I remeber the case study i did on it in a chemistry course.. Some dude was repairing his flat when he lit a cig or was near a heat source (cant remeber correctly) and blew the **** out of himself. He flew a few feet, his car was pretty much destroyed and he ended up in the hospital for quite some time.

Anyways, id never use it after reading about it but.. thats up to u!

Doesn't the stuff also dry up in the valve stem, rendering it useless? The last thing you want is crap in the TPMS's valve.

DO NOT use it. It WILL damage the TPMS units and you will have to buy replacements.

I had a tire replaced on my Max once and the tire guy asked if I had used that before looking at the tire. Apparently, they don't want to patch the inside of a tire that had/has that stuff in it. I'd use if only if I was in the desert and there was no other resource available.

yup it will temporarily fill the hole, however it also coats the entire inside of the tire with the sealant. Rendering it completely unrepairable in the future. Works the same as fix-a-flat. I would never use it, it ruins your tire.
