Hello all,

I am not that electronically advanced so I am asking my trustworthy Nico members for some help once again. I have acquired this head unit and would like to know if I can hook it up to my 98 Y33?. Will the wires just connect up or do I need to modify any wiring?.(double din or single din idk) I know about the grounding to the ebrake to play the dvds. Also, will it fit in my dash?.

Here's the link to the player http://www.crutchfield.com/S-H...N5435Thanks for any info!.

You will require an adapter to interface with the Bose amplifier inputs.

Surprised Crutchfield didn't offer you one.

By saying adapter is that to make the speakers work aka bypass the built in AMPs of the bose speakers?. I already have an aftermarket stereo with an adapter that made my speakers work. Will that work?. And as far as the wiring goes everything else should be fine?

Thanks masinx(sp?) you are great help!

Well, as I understand it, the adapter harness attempts to match the resistance of the output of the head amp to the expected nominal resistance of the inputs of the Bose amps, all the while maintaining some kind of equalization. Remember, nominal resistance of course varies across frequency, hence the equalization curve matching concern. Some harnesses seem to work better than others judging by anecdotal comments.

I don't quite understand your set up, but if you have after market amps with after market wiring and after market speakers, than going form the preamp out on your head unit should let everything work as well as it can.

Since electrical waveform is AC we use the term impedence not resistance. To match impedence.

Well my set up is simple. I currently have one cd/mp3 player and one seperate dvd player stacked on top of each other. The speakers are stock, no amp no nothing. The guy that set it up told me that i needed that converter to make the speakers work so he installed it and it's working. So my question is would the same thing work for this unit? I want to take out those two players mentioned above and put this single cd/dvd unit in and wire up my headrest monitors to it too.

Well my dvd system is inputted in the cd/mp3 player which plays the sound through aux mode. The monitors are connected to the dvd player's output. The converter I would guess is connected to the cd/mp3 player.

I think you are correct. Hook it up and test it before completing the installation.

Hey, you are doing the work. I am just guessing. Test to verify. Good luck and your next post on this topic will have to include pictures.

Well I checked turns out everything's fine should power up perfectly. Local shop quoted me 100 bucks for install. Is that too much?. Stay tuned for pics :D

Update:

Finally had time to get the car in the shop. Local guy quoted 100 previously but did it for 75 because I had the wires set up already from my last units. I love this unit. Plays DVD/MP3/CD/NAV.....

Installation went smoothly. There was about 2 inch space at the top of the unit and the frame but the guy installed a frame underneath so it looks great!. Here are some pictures that I took.
