17x9+24 front and rear on a 96 240 and what size tire??

It depends on your suspension setup. Do a Google search for "offset calculator." Enter your stock information, and your hypothetical wheel size and offset. It will tell you how much of a change to expect with the new setup. Pay special attention to the inboard wheel increase. Too much and your wheels may not clear your suspension. Of course, everyone's suspension is different, so you'll have to be the judge.

I run 17X9, +25 all around on my S14 with Tein HE coilovers...clears the coilover *barely* up front, fits fineint he rear.

Good tire choice would be Kumho MX in 225/45-17 if you want to be sure it fits easily (MX's run wide, so they wouldn't looked stretched on there).

Or staggered...run 225/45 (f), and 245/40 (r).
