will this tire fit on this wheel?

i know this is a dumb question but i am work and dont have time to look it up right now. plus if it does i would like to install it tonight. so does anyone know FOR SURE if a 225-55-16 will fit on and 8.5" wide rim? i know its not optimal i just want to do it so i can sell my rims to get money for "real" tires. might drive it like that for a week at most

Yeah, that's really pushing it, but yeah, it'll be stretched, I wouldn't drive it long though, so keep off the road whenever possible.

All I can tell you is 225 is 8.86 inches.

I wouldn't suggest skimping on tire work. Those are the things that connect your car to the road.

225/55/16 is defintley not dangerous/bad to fit on 16x8.5... I run 225/50/16 on 16x8s.... overall rolling diameter is taller than stock, but should be ok.
