Hello, I recently bought a 240sx. The engine knocks. Doesnt rly harm the performance but i just want it to stop (and my buddy says it could sling a rod anytime). I found this engine on ebay, its a ka24e which is whats in my car. The only problem is that its for a nissan stanza which is FWD. No, It will not work. just get one from a running 240, they are not that hard to find.

also i was just reading other post and they said something about lifters, maybe i will try some motor flush also.

If you can afford the cost (1,000 to 1,500) depending on the work required and your location I always recomend rebuilding what you have.

A good rebuild of a stock KA24E will be stronger than most other used engines.

Other option is just swap in a used engine and be done with it.

is the bellhouse bolt patern differnt on the fwd then the rwd?altima, to the 240sx or the hardbodie p/u. im lookin at gettin a ka24de to drop in my s-10 p/u. i know they used them in the altima from 93-01 but wasnt sure if they change the bolt patern for the trannys or wut not.

they also used them in the nissan hardbody p/u but there hard to find up here in canada, and 240's are just as bad to find for cheap.

that knocking may be preignition. IT also can be something messed up in one of your cylinders bores: piston pin, rod. Tear down the engine and youll find it. if its that, if its not and its preignition, step up the octane

I did a motor flush, during the motor flush as soon as it hit the 4.5 min mark, i heard the noise go in half. Then y buddy took off my valve cover and lossened my rockers, then torqed to specs and it doesnt make any more noise!
