I believe it should work. I'm not sure exactly how to break down the part numbers but I assume the last four digits may be the serial number of the ECU.

Four digits seem awfully small for an ECU production in the tens of thousands.

The serial number may be per a specific year or specific revision of the ECU, so it is still feasible.

Is the VIN of the donor vehicle available, too? That can absolutely help determine compatibility.

Serial numbers are unique to the individual unit, so what you propose would not be a serial number.
A portion of the part number, yes.

I asked on ebay for the vin# they don't have it. then was told by another vendor that the last 4 digits were the production date ?

Here is Rob's reply:

I can say It is for a 01 Pathfinder, no idea though if it is 2wd or 4wd, AT or MT.
Since they are both for 01 models but not the same number I am going to say its not 100% the same, but may work. The differences between the variations would mostly be about idle speed the ECU is set at, though there may be inputs one reads and the other will not...really only one way to find out....
If this was a free part I would plug it in and see what happens, since its $$$ involved you are rolling the dice.

Too bad the seller doesnt have a VIN, that would make this way too easy!!!!

Usually the ECUs have a part number stamped on it as well somewhere on the face or edge, should start with 23710-XXXXX
I
I'd look for another ECU from a seller who can list the VIN or exact part number of the ECU. Also scour your local junkyards of course.

Hello, I have a Nissan Pathfinder with the ECU MEC14-315 b1, I had a problem with nats and it ended up spoiling. Can you tell me if a MEC14-800 b2 will work correctly? They are from the same vehicle and year. It would be a kit with ECU, transponder and immobilizer. Thank you very much
