Just ordered a driveshaft from ebay. It's made by drive shaft.

Quote »This auction is for a new one piece driveshaft for a 89-94 manual transmission 240sx. This is a ABS driveshaft. It was for my project car, but I never finished it, and sold the car. the driveshaft is from the driveshaft shop.. It is steel (14.lbs), which isnt aluminum (11lbs) but still lighter than the stock TWO piece (19lbs). This will fit the KA24DE motor and the SR20DET motor.[/quote]http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

I am planning on doing a sr20det swap into my 93 240sx SE vert automatic. Not sure if i even have ABS.

Will this work for my upcoming swap?

your car doesn't have ABS. I dont think it was offered on the verts (thats just to the best of my knowledge anyway). The ABS driveshaft is a little bit shorter to compensate for the ABS sensor on the snout of the R200V diff. you have an R200 diff. No ABS sensor on the snout. shorter snout.

My experience says that there is enough slop in the factory **** that you can swap factory driveshafts with little regard to whether the car they came from had abs or not. Since this is a custom 1 piece ds, if it was measured and cut right at the shop its not going to have that much slop and it may be too short to fully engage the splines on either end. I would bet money that it will physically fit, but whether or not the splines have enough contact to prevent them from shearing or forcing the shaft out later in heavy driving is questionable. what can you do? well you could just swap in a viscous LSD out of an S14 SE (get the matching output shafts). Then you'll have the longer snout case to match the shaft, and you'll get the viscous LSD. You will have to swap out your rear cover though but its not big deal. Most of this has been covered before so a search should turn up whatever youre looking for, that shoudl be enough to head you in the right direction.
