or would it be more beneficial just to buy a new radio with a front aux imput like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Naxa-NX-648-Playe ... 185&sr=1-1

and how do I know if that radio will fit?

I'm a n00b at this.

Any single din or double din radio will fit in the Versa. All you need is a wiring harness and dash kit. However, if you are intimidated by wiring and removing car parts, you may want a knowledgeable friend, family member, or even a shop to install it. Also, I would not cheap out on the radio. Generally, you get what you pay for. I went on crutchfield to look for just a decent basic deck with USB to replace the factory tape player in a 94 GMC Sonoma I recently purchased and got a JVC with everything I needed shipped all for $169. Well I can say I highly recommend this deck. This one of the few products that has exceeded my expectations. Plenty of power, good sound quality, good functionality, not flashy, and easy to use with the deck itself and the remote. I threw in a couple of spare speakers and a cheap sub system it sounds insane for the price.

Here's the link to it: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDR610/ ... ml?tp=5684
It got even cheaper so it's an even better deal than it already was. I love mine.

I am thinking about getting an ipod adapter as well, since I have the Bluetooth controls.

The OP linked first to an iPod adapter and second to a new radio with an auxiliary input made for MP3 players. The second is much like the upgrade Versa radio, in that it's a one way connection and anything with a headphone jack can be plugged into it to send audio to the radio, but it will not send instructions back from the radio to the iPod to let you control the iPod from the steering wheel controls, for example.

I've never had an iPod, so I don't know if the first link would do that as well as send audio to the radio, but if so it does more than the radio shown in the second link. (And if you have steering wheel mounted audio controls, then you already have an upgraded radio which will do what the one in the second link does.)
