I am swapping an R33 into my auto S14 and want to change out the master brake cylinders for the Z32 brake upgrade down the line. At first glance, the master cylinder from the R33 looks like it will interfere with the strut tower housing on the S14. Anybody have any experience with this? Can I just pound in the strut tower to make clearance or will this create suspension interference issues?

the r33 cylinder will fit on the s14, but like you said you will need to bang a dent into the shock tower for it to clear the brake lines, i would amost consider making some custom SS lines to connect to the hard lines since it is gonna be such a tight squeeze.i have seen it done tho and it does work, just requires a bit of finesse.

I've done it with the R32 M/C, which must be very similar to the R33. The lines on the S14 are already so long that length will not be an issue. But it is a bit difficult to bend them around to fit the M/C since they come in from the other side. The dent I made was small... no more than 3/8" deep.

But I can tell you right now that your pedal will be too soft if your M/C has a 1" stamp on it, especially if you also have Z32 rear brakes. And since you have the auto S14 vacuum boost, it will be even softer than mine (which has the smaller 5-speed booster).

I now have a 1-1/16" Z32 M/C awaiting install, which will give a firmer pedal, hopefully close to the stock feel, which I thought was nice.

Btw, I second Carl's recommendation to get the stainless lines, preferably by putting an AN flare on the hard lines. If you can't find an AN flare tool, then maybe you can get the inverted flare instead. Bakerprecision.com sells adapters and pre-made AN lines that will work. It should also be possible to use banjo fittings on the M/C if you remove the inverted flare cones that are inserted in the ports. Since the port faces are machined, banjo fittings should work without leaking.
