Hey guys, this is my first post but I really need help. So i'm driving an 02 altima 2.5s 5spd. with 5% tint all around.

I recently purchased a set of rims to try to upgrade the looks of my car but tires are getting chewed up alive in the back by my fender i think. 255/35/20 VCT rims on falken racing tires. I'm contemplating whether or not I should my rear fender rolled, will it make a difference? Does anyone have any other suggestions? or did i waste my money on the rims?

Hey 20,

20" rims? Wow, I bet that looks wonderful! However, and I could be wrong here, but if I compare that particular size to my own '06 3.5SE, I would say that the rim diameter may be a bit large for the wheel well. I have 18's and lowered the rear about 0.9" and I can see where anything bigger than that, particularly a 20" wheel/tire combo, could possibly have issues. I don't think you wasted your money on the rims, but I would suggest that you take the vehicle to a good custom body shop, or even a Maaco, and have them take a look and determine whether or not something can be done to accommodate such a large diameter.

After you get this set up working it will be a fantastic look on that car.

Good luck,H...

The altima fenders have a fairly large fender lip under there. If you just have the fenders rolled, it will free up at least 1/4" and it should help out the situation if not completely mitigate the problem.

Thanks guys, so I brought my car to the shop and the guy tells my the altima fender lip is very thick compare to his usual customers (nissan z, g35, & s2000) and he's not sure if he can make it turn out right and he might have to charge me a next 30-40 $ for the extra work/time it may take, so i have to look around for a next shop

Tell him he's full of $hit. Find a different shop or ask around. There has to be someone near you that rolls fenders on weekends or something.

Your springs could also be a problem, the OEM and sum aftermarket springs have an issue of sagging. This willl cause the fenders to go over the tire and rub on car with aggressive rim/tire combinations or offsets.

One things that can be done is install Racingline Springs ( shameless plug I know).

Our springs are specially set up so that the the rear fenders will not sag and the car will now sit 100% level. No more huge front gap with tucking rear tires. Both front and rear will sit level with a 1-1/2 ~ 2 finger gap.

Our springs rates were also carefully selected to make sure the rear does not bounce around or sag,we've had quite a few customers with similar issues as you say that they were completely solved with our spring setup , and they love the ride

Check them out or shoot me an email for more info.

Wow, 20's? Why not go with some OEM 18's off a G35?

Anyways, I agree with the guy above me, you need to run negative camber to minimize rubbing. Which means you need a small drop and a camber kit.

I had 20's work without any issues and being dropped on eibach sportlines. no rubbing or rolling the fenders

it's alll in the offset that you get for the wheels. i had a +38 with 245/35/20 front and rears
