We are trying to make a home made turbo kit on the cheap for a KA24 and I was wondering if we could use SR20 injectors with a tune or is it not worth it? We only plan on pushing 7psi for now since the engine is old and needs rebuilding.

370's are a common swap for low boost setups. Will work well with a tune and low boost

In my opinion you should look into S15 440cc injectors, you are gonna wanna turn up the boost and those 370's aren't gonna cut it so step it up to the 440cc's and boost happy

But before you do any of these make sure to get a good tune, that will determine how long your setup is gonna last

What is the max power on the 370s? 440s? etc...

IIRC, max power is about 250whp on 370s and 350whp on 550s.

So I assume 440s should be good for nearly 300whp...

Assuming all other parts of the car are good... and that the most you'd want to use is 90% duty cycle, for safety, you're looking at...

370s: ~250 horses440s: ~300 horses550s: ~380 horses740s: ~500 horses850s: ~580 horses

I used this site to figure that. It's not really 100% accurate, but a ballpark is good none the less.

Yes assuming all other parts are working well.I think I'm gonna have to spring for some 740s or just go ahead and bump it up to 850s and call it quits.

I'm shooting for 450whp

If you're doing that kind of power and looking to drag race reliably and are doing a AEM EMS tune, you're clearly going deep into this game. You should really look into a top-feed fuel rail and just get real injectors where you don't worry as much about leaking or other problems, then just get some 1,000CC injectors and call it a day.

Good advice!

I saw that Siemens offers a conversion kit with 850cc top feed injectors for $430

That would probably be a good buy asthetically as well since the rails come Anodized.

Ouch, that's a lot.

You get the fuel rail for $139, and 96lb MSD injectors (1000cc!) are only $75 x4 = $230. So that's still $50-60 cheaper.

Man, I wish I could go do my turbo kit over again with what I know now...

You get the fuel rail for $139, and 96lb MSD injectors (1000cc!) are only $75. That's literally half the cost...Then you add a fuel pressure regulator and high flow pump and now you're back at the $430 for your whole fuel system.

I dont know anything about that Siemens kit, but its a good deal if it includes everything (fittings, injector plugs, etc).

Project Silvia has a top feed rail for $76, and you can find 96lb/hr MSD injectors for $80 each. So thats about $400. Pretty sure injector plugs are gonna cost more than $30, so the Siemens kit comes out ahead.

Just thinking out loud...
