Well the question's really in the title...have to get a new cat back exhaust and figure i might as well upgrade to a performance one. Looked at apexi n1s and hks hi-powers but they're not all stainless steel. ebay's got a few steals (seemingly) but i want to go w/ a trusted brand. Skunk2's look good, but they say they're for the jdm/turbo s13. Does it matter? Will it fit/cause any problems on my 240sx?

Assuming the stock cat is in place and all exhaust mounting locations exist, any "bolt on" exhaust will in fact bolt on to the appropriate chassis. The noise levels and ground clearance will be the major sacrifices you make. Until recently, I was running a SSAC dual N1 on my hatch. The pathetic ground clearance (about 1 1/2" not kidding) and sound finally got the best of me.I moved up to a Blitz Realize TT. Looks plain almost 4" of ground clearance and not loud at all.

If you still got the ka24e you should not get the skunk2 or any other performance exhaust unless you plan on swapping in an SR. Too many people with KA's get a big 2.5 or 3" exhaust which sound like crap on the KA and actually take away power. Get a 2.25" at most if you're keeping the KA, and forget about bling, look for function.

how will it take away power? also, the only reason i was looking into performance product is the stainless steel. i recently ordered a 3" stainless steel cat back off ebay for under $200 shipped, which is about the same price as a stock exhaust, and it shouldn't rust.

Don't know all the specifics but I know from experience. High flow 3" exhaust is for turbos, not stock NA. And if you care about not attracting attention from the police for a loud exhaust you should be aware.

well said. 3" will be a little loud on an NA and will draw some attention. Won't matter if it's a KA or SR since the down pipes end up in the same place out the factory.

Sound, i dont care about, i have a radar detector seriously though, will these things reduce performance? I thought itd help my engine breath easier (less resistance...)

Own a motorcycle? If you gut the exhaust, you'll feel the difference in what that can do. You'll feel a loss in torque. Now that said, yes you can lose power by running pipes that are too large.

alright, now this is gonna be a tough one: my current exhaust is really fd up, cat's probably done for, holes, and the top half of the muffler is not attached to the bottom half. Do you think i will notice an increase or decrease in power if i upgrade to the 3" cat back system (with new cat) that i ordered?

silencer takes power away.and 2.5-3 inch exhausts on a na ka show nothing but gains, but yes it will be loud.
