my old Z MAF crapped out on me so i had another changed. the tuning was alittle off so i had to change it. before i would not show any knocking on my safc knock meter. it originally did knock but i pulled base timing by 2 degrees and it went away for good.

after i changed the MAF, i just started flooring the car and noticing that i'm knocking off the scale!! i read 170 when its 80 was suppose to be a decent size knock.

now would changing hte MAF cause my timing to be alittle different at WOT? and how would semi old motor oil contribute to it? how about running only 3 quarts?

another thing, would putting a silencer cause enough back pressure to heat up the engine alittle more to cause this problem? because right now i'm forced to put one on by law.

my afr's could use to be in the 12.0:1 range and still not knock, but this new MAF is making me knock even at low 11's.

i'm tryin to remember where i filled up last time cause maybe i had a batch of crap gas. i do'nt know. but any sugguestions?
