ok everyone i have posted this in other forums but seem to have hit a wall.
the previous owner had a battery that was to tall unnoticed shortly after my purchase it hit the underside of the hood and cause a short. the car still ran but when the key would be turned off it still would keep running. i have changed the battery, the blue fusible like that got fried, the ECU,the alternator, most of the relays(even hidden ones behind the fuse box, ignition switch wiring from back side of the key cylinder. to no avail nothing has changed as far as the car turning off. i even have done the ECU check and code 55 no problems. but i must say it does run much better...lol
if there is anyone who knows the specifics of the ignition. im leaning towards either the starter relay or the wiring coming from the key side of the ignition.. please help i wanna put this behind me so i can start enjoying it and not worrying about it. thanks..

Idk to much about these cars yet but ive had almost the same situation with two others and its hardly ever around the key area if it caused a short then your best bet would be to check EVERY wire and make sure they are all good and grounded right, then check sensors a bad sensor from a short can cause a whole mess of problems, just because u got a new ecu doesnt mean its good anymore if theres still a short or bad connection somewhere itll pop the ecu and might not throw a code, the last thing u can do is keep the car off and check around with a test light or volt reader to see if your drawing power from somewhere and go from there. Hope this helps and u get to enjoy ur z!! :dblthumb:

I had the exact same problem, replaced all the relays and poked around with a multimeter for months....I might be able to dig up some of my old readings if it would help at all, feel free to pm me. Long story short I wired in a kill switch under the steering wheel with an inline fuse, forget which wire from the ECU i spiced but i can find out for you

try testing the ignition and the efi harness circuits, they shouldnt have any resistance. also the fuel pump relay, and all of your main grounds

starter checked out fine I checked all relays driver side pass
enger side under the hood all relays are working fine I'm thinking it's related to fuel pump its as if some thing is not telling it to turn off.

could be your fuel pump relay staying stuck open or a short, maybe a bad ground. easy way to check the ground is to take some extra wire and try to ground the circuit yourself and see if you can get it to shut off. It could also be the fuel pump controller. I dont think it would be the starter because thats only engaged at start up.

did you test the back of the interior fuse box where the relays plug into? also check the efi relay under the engine bay fuse box. is the ecu harness spliced at the connector due to a swap? (mine is a nightmare of shady crimps and gunky electrical tape done by the previous owner :facepalm2 )

Yes on interior relays. Didn't know there was one under the fuse box in engine bay. As far as wiring at ecu all is clean. On swaps to my knowledge.

interior relays and circuits? if you find one with heavy resistance you might find your gremlin
