I had an accident where the guy ran a red light and came and hit me on the front passenger side. The wheels are twisted and 3-4 airbags deployed. Now, I'm worried whether they will try to repair this vehicle. I dont want it to be repaired. I want it to be replaced.

2015 Nissan Pathfinder with 23K miles.
Will it be totalled??

Yeah I don't blame you. Did everyone make it out alright? No firsthand experience with that extent of damage, unfortunately.

I'd do your research and find the best body shop near you (probably with a fancy name like collision repair shop). Maybe even a dealership. The more attention to detail that's put in, the more it's going to cost. If they do end up deciding to repair it, you'll at least have the satisfaction of knowing it's done right. It's a good move even if you were hoping to keep it, and a no-brainer since you weren't at fault and won't be the one footing the bill anyway.

I'm guessing that talking to your insurance company would be a good idea as well. Tell them you won't feel safe in it, that even if the repairs are perfect the value of the car's going to be seriously impacted, etc. I'm not sure they'd be able to do anything, but it feels like it'd be worthwhile to put it out there.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

The airbags alone will be around $3k each...

I'm betting they will not total it unless there is frame damage as it's too new and worth too much... Usually they will only total one if the repair costs get close to the book value of the car... Hit Kelly Blue Book site and see what book value is...

The car was totaled. I'm waiting for the adjuster to call me with the settlement amount.

Hopefully your insurance doesn't skyrocket

Good deal. It must have had some frame damage involved.
Hopefully you won't be upside down on it when the insurance settles.
